Store and access up to 4TB of your files in a desktop computer, NAS device, or RAID array using the 4TB Blue SATA III 3.5″ Internal HDD Retail Kit from WD. 4TB will allow you to store movies, photos, music, documents, and much more. Compatible with computers running Windows and Mac OS, this hard drive connects to your system’s 3.5″ bay via the SATA III 6 Gb/s interface.
In terms of speed, this drive operates using WD’s IntelliPower rotational speed. This means that rpm speed of the drive depends on the operations being performed. If the drive is performing mostly sequential reads and writes, its speed will be increased as compared to if it were performing mostly random mode operations. This 4TB drive also features a 64MB cache to help ensure uninterrupted data transfers. Included with this hard drive are mounting screws.

good drives for lots of storage! I have not had any troubles with WD drives for a long time so these should be fine, I am hoping anyway. I do wish they had the sata cables tho, they came without any and I had to go buy some.if not for that I would have given 5 stars.

This is a fine product for what i use it for, serving files via network. I have three NAS devices, all using WD green HDDs. I adjust the green parktime from the standard 8 secs to a more reasonable 5 mins, using a freely available utility called wdidle3. Improves use-ability of green drives for NAS service. Do a quick search for park time and adjusting the wdidle wait to park. In fact, you should make this parktime adjustment if you intend to push this HDD into a RAID or NAS service. 🙂

Used as replacement HD for my iMac. I has only been a few weeks, but it is working perfectly so far. Great to live in a city where B&H is a half hour away.

I am a long time buyer of Western Digital Blue drives. They run cooler than the Green drives, and are very reliable. I am still using WD Blue drives that are over 15 years old. An added benefit to buying a Western Digital drive is that you can get the Acronis TrueImage WD Edition backup software off Western Digital’s website. The program also provides tools to configure 3TB, or larger, drives for your 64-bit computer. If you want a drive that does not overheat and runs like a Trane, buy the WD Blue hard drive. My experience with the Green versions are they overheat and fail, compared to WD Blue and Black versions.

This is for backup, it was sent quickly and worked perfectly, though I didn’t really expect anything different.

Bought this drive to be used in an external eSATA enclosure as a backup/data drive. The main issue with the WD Green drives is that they auto-park the drive heads every 8 seconds to save power. But, especially if you use Linux, at every disk access (Linux nudges each disk every 30 sec) the heads will need to be un-parked – and after a certain number of park-unpark cycles, the drive fails. In order to increase the time interval after which the heads are parked….. It’s recommended to not disable the head-parkig completely – just set-it to a reasonably high value. Remember to power off the drive after changing this setting.Other than that it’s a nice, quiet & cold-running drive.

Never got disappointed with WD drives and this one makes no exception.

Purchased based on specs (64Mb cache should have been CMS drive) since model no doesn’t allow to determine. Drive is EZAZ which is SMR technology per WD website and 256Mb cache. With CMR vs SMR being a big purchasing factor these days, the specs need to reflect the correct product.

I had only one more available drive bay in my storage system and needed something that could handle holding lots and lots of data. This fit the bill perfectly. It’s fast enough for archiving and streaming media off of it with no issue at a reasonable price range. I ran a few thorough test before putting it in production which if past with flying colors. I only wish it was even cheaper!
