Store and access up to 4TB of your files in a desktop computer, NAS device, or RAID array using the 4TB Blue SATA III 3.5″ Internal HDD Retail Kit from WD. 4TB will allow you to store movies, photos, music, documents, and much more. Compatible with computers running Windows and Mac OS, this hard drive connects to your system’s 3.5″ bay via the SATA III 6 Gb/s interface.
In terms of speed, this drive operates using WD’s IntelliPower rotational speed. This means that rpm speed of the drive depends on the operations being performed. If the drive is performing mostly sequential reads and writes, its speed will be increased as compared to if it were performing mostly random mode operations. This 4TB drive also features a 64MB cache to help ensure uninterrupted data transfers. Included with this hard drive are mounting screws.

Easy install and so far so good, fast and no issues. Good price.

I plan to use this drive as a back up, storing files on it that don’t need to be accessed readily and can be played by inserting the drive in my dock.

Purchased 2 of these based on specs since model no doesn’t allow to distinguish between CMR and SMR technology. Cache and speed matched EZRZ drive.

I used these to replace a couple of old 2TB Firewire drives, installed in a OWC drive enclosure. I use them to back image files. And so far they have worked.

I have 4 of these configured in a RAID 5. Going on a month and they are plugging away just as expected. The green series from WD definitely saves on power which is great in terms of heat and money.

This is a basic HDD oriented for the average customer that looks for preserve information of different nature, it does its job OK… not for more advanced users that maybe are looking for fast HDD to improve the performance or gaming….

Ok I was skeptical. I have 4 TB drives that were filling up fast. Are we ready for 6TB DRIVES? HELIUM? access speeds? ok so I installed the drive, formatted, copied the existing. I now have the 2 TB spare space working as good as the 4tb drives. Easy, fast simple no problem.

Got it installed in an Dell XPS 8490 as a 3rd drive. Actual write speeds of up to 150-180mb/s, pretty cool.

I use these drives to back up files. As a video editor, I load the saved files to a faster drive for editing, but this is a great cheap solution for storing lots of big files.

Only had the drive for a couple weeks and I’m very happy with it. Currently using it to backup my Slackware Linux server.

Inserted the drive into a Drobo and it works trouble free.

Runs great for what I need it to. I haven’t needed to run some software yet since I bought it, but I can run my all of my programs and not worry about overloading it like the one in my laptop and great transfer speed. Perfect if you are building a budget PC.

This is my fourth WD 4TB Green drive, which I use for backups and archiving. These drives are reliable at a good cost/TB. I have been using two of them striped together in a 8TB partition for a year without a single problem. With drives like this it has become so inexpensive to keep multiple backups of even the largest image databases that data loss problems have become a thing of the past.

This is a good drive to add extra storage to your pc. Not as fast as an SSD but save that for your operating system and use this drive for less speed intensive applications, photos and videos.

does NOT have windows installed and does NOT come with any software to install, very hard to find the DRIVERS to this drive……had to return it!!

I bought two of these HDD’s. One to replace my existing HDD and one to act as a removable backup. For such a large capacity, I am pleasantly surprised how quite the drives are when transferring data. I was a bit afraid of heat buildup on the drive I use in a removable caddy. But, again I was surprised as to how cool it runs even under full load. So far, I can’t find a single fault with these HDD’s. WD rules as always.

If you’re like me and require massive storage, but prefer to minimize use of NAS & RAID arrays, these ‘green-label’ WD drives are the answer. I own seven and have more on order. I use them in conjunction with the Highpoint Rocketstor thunderbolt HDD dock (available from B&H). I keep active Final Cut editing projects on a G-tech 8tb drive thunderbolt drive, backing them up to these WD 4tb greenies. Back-ups scream along at thunderbolt speed, and at these prices multiple volumes for protection are very affordable.
