Store and access up to 6TB of your files in a desktop computer, NAS device, or RAID array using the 6TB Blue SATA III 3.5″ Internal HDD Retail Kit from WD. 6TB will allow you to store movies, photos, music, documents, and much more. Compatible with computers running Windows and Mac OS, this hard drive connects to your system’s 3.5″ bay via the SATA III 6 Gb/s interface.
In terms of speed, this drive operates using WD’s IntelliPower rotational speed. This means that rpm speed of the drive depends on the operations being performed. If the drive is performing mostly sequential reads and writes, its speed will be increased as compared to if it were performing mostly random mode operations. This 6TB drive also features a 64MB cache to help ensure uninterrupted data transfers. Included with this hard drive are mounting screws.

I use for large project backups. Works with Windows 7 2GB limitation.

For every day use, this is a very reliable hard drive for archiving your files.

Lots of capacity for big files such as video files. However this drive is only 5400 rpm and that reduced speed does show when copying large files. Also, this drive gets VERY HOT. In fact so hot it will burn your skin. I used this drive to back up about 250GB of video files over Thunderbolt 2 mounted in a drive dock. Slow, very hot and a bit noisy. Spend a little more and get a better drive unless your needs are only occasional, then this drive will suffice.

Intalled this in a 7 year old Dell XPS 410 computer running Windows 7 as a 2nd drive for photos/backup, as my primary 500GB hard drive was getting full. This was my first time doing this, but installation was very simple after viewing some info on the Dell website, and a few online how to videos. Drive was up and running in about 20 minutes. No problems so far.

Runs just like my other three 2TB drives. Have had good luck with Western Digital drives for a good number of years. I hope it continues. So far so good. Using this as a backup for images. Initially when I plugged it in I could see it in the bios and in the device manager but it would not show up as a valid drive in windows explorer. The reason was the drive did not contain a partition. Just popped in my Windows 7 CD booted off of that and acted like I was going to re-install windows. When I got to the drive setup I added a partition to the new drive and then exited out. Drive shows up and holds my data perfect now.

I bought two of these HDD’s. One to replace my existing HDD and one to act as a removable backup. For such a large capacity, I am pleasantly surprised how quite the drives are when transferring data. I was a bit afraid of heat buildup on the drive I use in a removable caddy. But, again I was surprised as to how cool it runs even under full load. So far, I can’t find a single fault with these HDD’s. WD rules as always.

Not sure what else you can say about a hard drive. Here is to hoping we are on the right side of the Gaussian curve for mean time to failure.

Always in need of more storage, when I saw these on sale for $96 I could hardly pass it up.

I thought that the master slave pin would be included but it wasn’t. I think its only applicable with an IDE connection anyways, but once i opened up disk management in windows and connected the drive its been smooth sailing. Purpose: Additional storage for In-Home LAN to free up space from SSD where data was being stored.

I use this drive to back up my master drive on my edit bay. Works great as a secondary source that I can leave at another location in case the worst were to happen. Performance is reliable, however it you intend to transfer an entire 3TB allow for several hours. This is the best bang for the buck out there!

The deal was too good to backup. I purchased these for a hobby build of an UNRAID NAS I’ve only had them in service for about a week. While I’m sure there are more professional drives for my task again this was a hobby build.

I purchased 2 drives which work fine. However one of the USB3 cables that came with the drives failed to work. It would connect to a USB2 port but when connected to a USB3 port the drive failed to work. Very disappointed in WD.

Put 4 of these drives into a Drobo Gen. 3 unit (total of 16TB). The price for the 2 pack was the best I have seen anywhere at the time of purchase. The drives are very quite and do not run hot at all. So far so good and hope it stays that way!

This hard drive came in a box with directions and it was easy to install physically and once I got past my stupidity it was easy to install electronically. No problems.

Great as extra storage. Good deal getting as a two pack. They do the job.

Only had the drive for a couple weeks and I’m very happy with it. Currently using it to backup my Slackware Linux server.
