Store and access up to 6TB of your files in a desktop computer, NAS device, or RAID array using the 6TB Blue SATA III 3.5″ Internal HDD Retail Kit from WD. 6TB will allow you to store movies, photos, music, documents, and much more. Compatible with computers running Windows and Mac OS, this hard drive connects to your system’s 3.5″ bay via the SATA III 6 Gb/s interface.
In terms of speed, this drive operates using WD’s IntelliPower rotational speed. This means that rpm speed of the drive depends on the operations being performed. If the drive is performing mostly sequential reads and writes, its speed will be increased as compared to if it were performing mostly random mode operations. This 6TB drive also features a 64MB cache to help ensure uninterrupted data transfers. Included with this hard drive are mounting screws.

The drives installed easily and are working fine.

Purchased based on specs (64Mb cache should have been CMS drive) since model no doesn’t allow to determine. Drive is EZAZ which is SMR technology per WD website and 256Mb cache. With CMR vs SMR being a big purchasing factor these days, the specs need to reflect the correct product.

I was concerned my 5 year old hard drive would fail without warning. I cloned it to this drive using the SABRENT docking station. Cloned perfectly and I am very confidant I have avoided any problems with my system.

Runs great for what I need it to. I haven’t needed to run some software yet since I bought it, but I can run my all of my programs and not worry about overloading it like the one in my laptop and great transfer speed. Perfect if you are building a budget PC.

We picked this drive because we wanted to start making back up copies on slightly larger and well priced drives. We use them in docking stations and they are working very well. Plan to buy more this week! Thank you B&H signed TravelingKaspersWorld

I bought 2 of these drives for use in a Seagate STCT100 2-bay NAS enclosure, running SimplyRAID (Seagate’s modified version of RAID 1). Prior to installation I disabled the Intellipark/Idle3 feature using the wdidle3.exe app from WD, setting the timer to 300 seconds. As far as I can tell these drives do not support TLER. The drives have been running continuously for about a week at temperatures ranging from 38-45C, with no problems. No formal throughput testing yet, but the drives have been able to stream 1080 over WiFi (n and ac) without problems. Noise isn’t much louder that the enclosures cooling fan which is already pretty quiet.

The disk is a little slow, but the capacity was what I was looking for to store video. Installation was fairly easy. A good price all-in-all.

Installed in a Linux PC, no problems. Check back in 5 years.

The green drive is not WD’s highest performance drive, but I was happy to get read speeds of 117 MB/sec and write speeds of 70 MB/sec when plugged into a SATA card on a 4-year old computer. I was gonna use it to replace the drive in an older WD MyBook. It worked, but was slow, so I put it inside the computer; I did not want to waste its speed.

It was pretty easy to install as a second harddrive (after some googling) for me and seems to be working well. I didn’t know different harddrives are much faster and suitable for different computer things like gaming, but this is slower apparently. I think for my uses, it will be great. I probably would include a picture of the box if I worked for B & H as there is some essential information on there. I also would include a better piece of paper with better installation instructions or a link on where to see some if I worked for WD. I would include a SATA? cable or something. This comes with nothing and no pins to designate it as a master or slave like harddrives of old. Otherwise, everything is good.

Used as a secondary drive to my SSD. Easy to install/setup. Speed is very satisfactory. No cons as of yet.

I have 4 of these configured in a RAID 5. Going on a month and they are plugging away just as expected. The green series from WD definitely saves on power which is great in terms of heat and money.
