This SSD is perfect for my external storage needs, though not perfect for everyone and maybe not the best for a system drive. The speeds I get over a fast 10 Gb/sec USB 3.1 connection are just 350-450MB/sec, not very impressive for this type of SSD, slower than other models connected the same way. But good enough for such an affordable SSD (I got mine at a steep discount), and still much faster than any hard drive. If you want an SSD for top speed or long life under heavy daily read/write loads, get a pro SATA or NVMe SSD instead. This WD Blue SSD is a good buy when all you want is more speed than a hard drive, under moderate read/write loads, at a low price. Also good for older computers that don’t have the latest high speed connectors.

Largest SATA SSD available and also the cheapest 4TB. Perfect for a non-bootable-OS drive of data. First one I bought dropped out (disappeared even in BIOS until cold reboot) several times overnight and had to be returned. B&H return and replacement was smooth and easy. Pros: I got this SSD HD to replace and improve (The orginal HD was a Western Digital 1 TB WD Blue SATA II 5200 RPM 8 MB Cache) the performance issues that this laptop had been having which was mainly due to the growing resource demands over the years from the newer Windows Operating Systems (Going from Windows 7 to Windows 10) and the newer requirements from the current software as well. Once I installed the new SSD the difference was literally night and day, the boot up from Bios to Operating System (Windows 10) was almost literally instantaneous (I would say 10 to 15 seconds), the response time on applications and any action in general was also instantaneous. Only recommendation I would make is to make sure the BIOS on your laptop/PC is current so there are no compatibility issues with the SSD. Overall I could not be happier, This will unfortunately will be that last upgrade that I will be able to do this Laptop (and my Wife’s Dell XPS laptop, they are both the same age and most specs are the same) since I have literally maxed out all up-gradable areas on this Laptop (See the system system specs below). I would highly recommend this SSD Hard Drive. Cons: Western Digital is a pretty good brand when it comes to HDDs/SDDs.
