This is my second WD SSD drive. Not a hint of a problem, and the one is going very strong after a couple of years. Easy to install, well constructed, and works as expected.

Good for updating an old PC or laptop. I normally use Samsung Pro in ‘mission critical’ apps, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by these low cost WD drives in my other PCs.

Jan 2018 – This is almost half the price of the next cheapest supported drive for Atomos Shogun Inferno. I have used it recording 240fps raw from Sony FS5 (with the RAW unlock firmware) and 120fps 4k burst mode. I have not used CDNG, and wonder why technically this, and most other drives aren’t listed as supported.. since I don’t know what to do with CDNG I haven’t tried. My life is complicated enough as it is. That said, its an SSD and works well. Offloads at high 300 to 400 MB/s to my MBP using USB3 Atomos reader. I’d buy more if/when needed.

It’s a great product and B&H It’s the company we use to buy our electronics. They have fast shipping and delivery. Prices are better then its competitor

This 1Tb SSD drive is really fast compared to my old optical one. put into a new build and have ZERO complaints.
Cody Erdman (verified owner) –
Worked like a charm. The packaging was a little wasteful because of the big box it came in. However the drive itself is indeed 4 TB and works well. Make sure you initialize the drive before formatting/allocating.

I just upgraded my year old iMac 2TB fusion drive to this WD Blue, 4TB SSD, (including labor, 1/3 the cost of Apple new)!!! With installed programs etc., I was nearing 900 Gig, and even with the fusion drive and space becoming a premium. I didn’t like how slow it was becoming to load and work on photo editing, so this was the next step since RAM wasn’t an issue. I the WD Blue 2TB in my 2012, so it was a no-brainer to choose this new 4TB drive. Now Boot up is much quicker; Accessing and working with Lightroom and PhotoShop is almost immediate; And running multiple programs, plugins and another OS is a breese !!!!! The hard part was waiting for the 4TB SSD to come on sale.

Use these drives to upgrade computers with standard hard drives, and as external storage devices. Easy to use, adaptable and reliable.
Rossie Bednar (verified owner) –
Same as picture, you get actually as described. I love B&H for that

It’s a perfectly fine SATA ssd. Generally wait for the sale price of ~$100, for more there are other drives that also work well enough. I think this has DRAM cache which is apparently a good thing. I use it on a SATA 2 connection, so it’s definitely bottlenecked by the connection more than the drive. If you have an NVMe slot or open PCIe slot ( cheap adapter), get the NVMe version of this drive or another similar NVMe though, much faster and more modern tech without any additional cost.

This is our go to drive for replacing old fashioned hard drives that are 1TB or less. This drive gives a great balance of performance and power savings over the old drives.
Agnes Bergstrom (verified owner) –
Received my drives have not been able to put them into my build due to a lack of affordable video cards. WD is my go to company for storage.
Scarlett Weimann (verified owner) –
I bought this drive from B & H in June of 2021. It went bad at the beginning of November. I tried to get an RMA from Western Digital but WD would not accept my serial number. I called B & H who referred me back to WD. A month later after chatting, several calls and filling out forms WD will still not allow me to register my drive or get an RMA. I have been in the computer business for 20 years and have never had this problem. Stick to Seagate and don’t buy from B & H.

I installed one of these in my recent build and put the operating system on it. Talk about speed! My computer boots in under a minute.
