This is my second hard disk of this model. Bought the second just weeks after the first one based on the slim profile and good performance on my MacBook Pro.

I love having this 4TB drive in a compact size, and it’s definitely my favorite external hard drive so far, writes quickly, and is super reliable. Only thing that I’ve noticed is that it sometimes buzzes against my desk, but if I move it that sound goes away. It definitely is quiet, but if your perception is attuned to it, you might hear it, there is also a slight vibration when you touch it, so that’s probably why it buzzes occasionally when it’s not flush to the surface of the desk.

I have been using the older verison of this drive (12 disks) and now they have this newer version. So I bought two of these to use as backup disks. So far they are working properly. It is always scary to buy hard drives that have not been tested/rated by customers so I will update this review immediately if one of them has any problems!

I like this. Have not used it much yet. But I hate the proprietary plug on the HDD itself. Make sure you do not lose this cable or you will have to order specifically for this one. You cannot replace this with any cable from any computer shop.

short and sweet: 1) it works fine 2) its quiet 3) price is right

I love the plug and play functionality of this hard drive very easy to setup and use. Its fairly small so it doesn’t take up much desk real estate at all either. The fact that it is 5TB is a plus as well. Very pleased with my purchase!

Unfortunately this product failed on me within the first month I used it. My PC could no longer recognize the drive and I could not access my files. Ended up costing me a lot of money to get a professional data recovery done by a local shop, very disappointing.

I have yet to use this one but I very much like these for backup files and system work. Save SSD for processing.

These work well. We have recently switched to using the 5TB version which for not much more give you a lot more storage. I

I’ve owned several My Passport drives and have never encountered a problem with any of them. I expect the same to hold true with this one. So far, so good.

Works as described for all file types.
Patience Koelpin (verified owner) –
Smaller than my last Passport with twice the capacity.

Replacing an Apple time capsule for routine backups. Passport was a chosen with expert help fromB&H customer service to match my hardware and personal needs. Knowledgeable help is hard to reach by phone these days.
Tito Auer (verified owner) –
Easy to use, small , yet holds 5 GB of files. Great for an additional extra drive. Plug and play.
Elinor Kuhlman (verified owner) –
Works well, plug & play. Increased capacity of P/S 4 was 500GB, now can get many games with out deleting others.
Rosemarie Sauer (verified owner) –
The passport is fast in sending files to it.

Came with USB cable, plugged into USB3 socket, installed WD software that is on the drive, and backed up over half a terabyte onto it in a reasonably short amount of time. But, for true redundant backup, I think I need another!

What a great product! I just plugged it in and Time Machine started right up!

I have used a My Passport hard drive for several years for Xbox games and never had an issue with it. I recently upgraded to a 4TB hard drive and it works as advertised so far.

Passport so far works great. Have had it a few weeks.
