Aside from its 4TB of storage capacity, it’s built with 256-bit AES hardware encryption to help ensure your files are protected, and features USB 3.2 Gen 1 connectivity for fast transfers. It and comes formatted NTFS for Windows 8.1 and 10, but may be reformatted for other operating systems, and connects to your host system using an included micro-USB to USB Type-A cable. Users can take advantage of WD’s Discovery and Backup software to help manage and back up their files as well.

So this drive is actually pretty good and the price was excellent at B&H when I purchased with the laptop I bought. The problem with this little guy, (and I do mean little) is its cord is so short that it keeps getting yanked out of the port. I have a laptop tray and the drive sits beside the laptop directly on the tray; every time I picked up the tray, the drive slid off the tray, came unplugged and crashed to the floor. The first time it happened I said I would be careful not to do that again; until it happened again! The second time it fell, it made noise but thankfully it still worked. It did not survive the 3rd drop. For that reason I give it 3 stars and a warning. However, I did like the drive so much that I repurchased it and use velcro strips to eliminate any more accidents.

between 2 TB and 5 TB Hard Drives. The 5 TB requires more power. Did not know this and when the information on the drive was not showing up it required a call to technical support. They were great to deal with and helped me with my problem. My drive works perfectly now.

This is my 5th Passport. I keep buying the larger ones as I get more and more stuff to backup. Use my old, smaller ones to backup those! All work great. None have failed in 10 years or more.

I ordered 3 of these external hard drives to do a rotation back up for my computer. Of the 3 only one worked. This is not due to any fault of B&H. They came sealed from the manufacturer. I am a little worried about the drives themselves 2 out of 3 failed drives, that would not even show up on the computer when plugged in. B&H was wonderful. They refunded my money and gave me a paid mail for return. I couldn’t wait for a reorder as I needed them right away. B&H was very helpful and had me off the phone in a short period of time.

I needed some extra storage for my game system to store more games on and run games from it . The feel and look of the hard drive is slick and feels solidly built . I’ve ran multiple games on it and the hard drive speed is great and does not lag and runs normally . This is a great solution to extend storage or your device or archive data .

I purchased 2 of these drives. One of them simply stopped connecting to my computer within a couple months for no apparent reason. The second one became corrupted after about 6 months. If you value your data, don’t buy this drive.

I love the quality and easy setup. It connected to Time Machine fairly quickly. I like the backup software that comes with it. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is that the USB connection is next to the flashing on/off light. I would have preferred to seen the light on the opposite end of the USB connection. Other that that it performs well

I bought this to use as a redundant data backup. The USB 3.0 transfer speed is great and is a great value at only $80 for 1 TB. I also made use of the password protection for the drive which works immediately upon the drive being plugged in.
