Simply great

Great external storage for Mac. Doesn’t require reformatting if purchase the Mac version. Good option for computer back-ups.

I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks, but it’s simple to use. It’s user-friendly. Just plug it in and look it up in your finder, follow setup instructions and you’re good to go. I just wish Western Digital would make one of these things with more memory (i.e., 10TB).
Heath Ledner (verified owner) –
This drive is a good product, small and compact, and is just what I needed. Easiest setup ever, plug and go. The sale price here sealed the deal. Highly recommended.

I’m really happy with this drive. Does what I need it to do.

Got it for backing up my computer files. Cheap memory for this type application.

Very fast, and spacious. Excellent drive.

Love these portable hard drives. Easy to store backups in a fire safe box because of their size. Love not having to plug into power. WD has always been a reliable brand for me. Highly recommend.

I have another My Passport drive, and this one is even smaller. I love it! I’ve found these drives to be very reliable.

A little slower than I’d like, but my son used it to backup his computer and is happy with it!

Brand new 4T My Passport plugged into my PC, when Im trying to start the automatic back up from the App, displays the message, that computer does not “see” the drive. Yet, I was able to save some files on this drive by simply copying them into this drive. And the manual is nowhere to be found. Very disappointing.
Noah Bartoletti (verified owner) –
This external hard drive is extremely easy to set up and use, and it has been working great since I installed it. I’m very pleased with this purchase.

I copied over a few GB of data before this thing stopped working. At first I could not copy anymore into it, and then it just went AWOL on the device list. Nothing I tried, using different utilities on a Mac and three different PCs could get it to be recognized. Now I have to send this thing back with a bunch of personal data on it somewhere.

This item came very quickly (in about 3-4 days) and it works great. The only downside for me is that I don’t have many devices compatible with usb 3.0; therefore, I am not able to utilize the drive to its full capacity. However, it works great and does everything it says it would.

This product is very slim and light. The speed is fast. It is a lot better than my older version of my passport.
Lauryn Beatty (verified owner) –
Worked perfectly for me when I needed to backup everything before installing a new operating system on my Mac.

I have only had it for a few days, so the main thing I can say is it works. Other than that, here is what CrystalDiskInfo says about it: Inside the enclosure is the WDC WD50NDZW 5000.9 GB drive. The interface is USB (Serial ATA). The transfer mode is SATA 600. The standard it follows is ACS-3 Revision 5. It features S.M.A.R.T., APM, NCQ, TRIM. And its rotation rate is 5400 RPM. Beyond that, it is in an elegant black enclosure, is USB powered, very quiet, and its temperature is is 36C after about 12 hours being hooked up to the computer so far today.

I am not computer savvy and am grateful that it was so easy to install and begin backing up. Id had an older one for 6 or 7 years that did the job, and finally died. Its death may have had to do with a sketchy port on my computer and Ill be getting a new computer soon. This passport does something else w/ cloud backup that I dont understand. One of these days Ill call WD to ask about it.

I have owned several of these external hard drives. They have been reliable for storage and for backups, especially when travelling.

I cant believe this just happened… I bought this at the end of march and after 4 months it stopped working… No PC or Mac recognize it…
