Aside from its 4TB of storage capacity, it’s built with 256-bit AES hardware encryption to help ensure your files are protected, and features USB 3.2 Gen 1 connectivity for fast transfers. It and comes formatted NTFS for Windows 8.1 and 10, but may be reformatted for other operating systems, and connects to your host system using an included micro-USB to USB Type-A cable. Users can take advantage of WD’s Discovery and Backup software to help manage and back up their files as well.

I bought this at the end of April 2021. I was skeptical when it arrived in a box with NO PROTECTION and thought it must either be very strong or surely it would not work. The first time I tried to load anything on it, it gave me an error. Tried again and it will not even show signs of life. First time I have bought anything from B&H and had it be a complete fail!

This is the second WD Mac passport that has failed after about a year. This time, I get the “Disk Not Ejected Properly” message and the icon flies off the screen even when I didn’tdo a shutdown or any kind and it won’t do a backup when it is cycling like this. I went online and checked and tried 2 or 3 fixes but none worked. So, should I buy a 3rd one? Probably not! I didn’t give it a zero because my hard drive failed after buying my first WD and it worked as advertised restoring my laptop!

I can’t tell you how happy I was to get this product. Between my wife and I we have thousands of photos and videos we were so afraid to lose. We would spend hours trying to upload to various websites to clear some storage on our phones. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you what a pain that has been. I was thrilled to find this and see how easy it was to not only transfer everything from all of our devices, but to now have them all in one place. I’m not sure how I never knew about these but I absolutely would have purchased one a long time ago. Not to mention the 4TB allows for plenty of storage so we will no longer have to bog down our phones or lose precious photos because we ran out of room. It’s so easy to use and I am 100% happy with it. I would absolutely recommend this to everyone because everyone could use this.

This is my 4th Western Digital Portable Hard Drive. I use them all to back up different photo catalogs on my MacBook Pro. I purchased this one to replace one that I’ve had for over 5 years. The original one is still working fine, but I’m always hearing horror stories of portable hard drive failures, so I purchased this one as an extra back up. I use these hard drives on a daily basis. I use Adobe Lightroom to organize my photos as well as editing. I have several different Lightroom catalogs and use a different hard drive to back up each of them. I ALWAYS use Western Digital Hard Drives! So far (5+ years of use), I have never had a problem with any of them.
