Aside from its 4TB of storage capacity, it’s built with 256-bit AES hardware encryption to help ensure your files are protected, and features USB 3.2 Gen 1 connectivity for fast transfers. It and comes formatted NTFS for Windows 8.1 and 10, but may be reformatted for other operating systems, and connects to your host system using an included micro-USB to USB Type-A cable. Users can take advantage of WD’s Discovery and Backup software to help manage and back up their files as well.

They have come a long way with external hard drives. it worked fine for a year, no problem moving or working directly on the hard drive, after a year it started doing clicking sounds and the computer could not access any of my files I am staying away from wd their quality is very poor, I was expecting better performance and more than 1 year of use.

Good product at a good price point. I use this as an archive device for my larger video projects. The storage space is large enough and it’s physical dimensions is small enough to fit in my archive library. I don’t have a USB 3.0 port but was able to use my 2.0 port with decent transfer speed.

I use Acronis for disk image backups, and this unit can hold the C-Drives of all the PCs in the office! When the Ransomware hits begging for Bitcoin, or maybe DoggyCoin (!), we disconnect everything, restore the disks on the affected computers, restore the latest data backup and get back to work (Who let those bad boys in anyway?) Keep one in the office and one off site!
