So this drive is actually pretty good and the price was excellent at B&H when I purchased with the laptop I bought. The problem with this little guy, (and I do mean little) is its cord is so short that it keeps getting yanked out of the port. I have a laptop tray and the drive sits beside the laptop directly on the tray; every time I picked up the tray, the drive slid off the tray, came unplugged and crashed to the floor. The first time it happened I said I would be careful not to do that again; until it happened again! The second time it fell, it made noise but thankfully it still worked. It did not survive the 3rd drop. For that reason I give it 3 stars and a warning. However, I did like the drive so much that I repurchased it and use velcro strips to eliminate any more accidents.

Always reliable, I have 5-10 drives all WD, they have all served me well. Store plenty of pictures. Great purchase

I have been using the Lacie rugged drives for years, but when I updated to the new MacBook Pro Retina, I wanted a big USB 3 drive. These are great. They are reasonable quick, small physically, but big in capacity. They are quiet and run cool. After trying one, I bought two more. A great backup/clone solution.

This hard drive connected to my IMac (Catalina) without a hitch. It has been performing flawlessly as a Time Machine backup ever since.

It’s more space than I know what to do with! This is good since I plan on doing high quality projects and want them in a separate space other than my computer.

It does the job to perfection. It is a true plug and play for my MacBook Pro.

It works as I would expect it would since it is a WD product and I have had several WD drives ranging from 1 TB to MyCloud NAS’.

This external drive is exactly as advertised. It came quickly and very easy to set up and use. I returned one that did not work on my Mac and it was very easy to return and get my refund. B&H is a very good company to order from.

Great portable & fast 3.0 USB Hard Drive. I use it for backing up my computer internal drive and also for storing video when editing via FCP X. No complains!

Perfect for carrying around with easy access to save any documents or anything for work. Easily accessible after the USB is plugged into any computer OS platform. Good for saving programming files that are created in Netbeans or standalone code that is written in Notepad++

Good, fast transfer. Love the size and portability of the drive. I work in college athletics and use it primarily for backing up photos and videos.

This 4TB drive is compact and just want I needed to back up my old Mac. I plugged it into my new PowerBook, opened disk utility, and had it formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) in about a minute. Since I have an old 2011 iMac, I needed to use the older file system. I also ran some speed tests with BMD disk speed test and it did well for a none-SSD (see attached photo). If you need an easy-to-use and portable drive, It is hard to beat WD.

Purchased this for use as an offsite backup. Copy speed is not that fast but it is enough for the task.

I have multiple Western Digital portable drives and this one is the largest capacity. It works well but seems slower than my other drives. As for B&H, it is my go-to technology store and they didn’t disappoint, as usual.

Great brand, super reliable and because it is smaller it is much more portable

I got this my passport to backup some of my pictures and content & I love it. It’s compact and easy to use with devices! I love having a portable hard drive for easy access when I’m anywhere at any time! I highly recommend this my passport!

Unfortunately this product failed on me within the first month I used it. My PC could no longer recognize the drive and I could not access my files. Ended up costing me a lot of money to get a professional data recovery done by a local shop, very disappointing.

Have only used this for a few weeks now, used for storing video files shot on a 7d that are processed in FCP 10. No problems so far, USB3 seems to be just about as fast as advertised. Not sure how rugged it is as the black bit is made out of plastic, and hoping not to find out anytime soon.
