Received three of these to use as a backup drive for three SSD I have. One stopped working after only 2 months. Glad they were only backups.

the WD 5TB Passport USB is small, light, durable, reliable, and fast. Not to mention an unbeatable price at B&H.
Everett Mann (verified owner) –
Not sure what happened with my WD but I was transferring my work and suddenly it all stoped.. spend some money to recover it and glad I could save my work..

I had two of these drives fail, each less than 2 months after being put into service. Both were running smoothly, then after a restart of my system both produced the click of death and wouldn’t mount or present any available file system to be copied off or troubleshot. The drives were always on a desk, no drops of any kind, nor did they leave the house, ever. Maybe I got part of a bad run of production but I won’t use these again for any reason. Thank you B&H for your help with returning these!!

This is my third Passport Drive; so far they have all worked flawlessly. And B&H has once again been a pleasure to deal with.

I bought this in order to have a reliable, compact backup for my MacBook Pro Retina, which only has a 256g flash drive. That’s not enough but will have to do. I’m not spending the extra for 512 or larger, so I’ll learn to stop saving so many files. Or I’ll simply store them here on the 1TB drive. I may also investigate backing it up on the cloud, but I’ve had difficulties with internet connections and speed. I’d rather have my files at hand and back up files in the cloud.

Using this to back up image files. Very small footprint on my desk. About size of deck of cards but thinner. Only using the USB 2.0 with it but that is fast enough for what I do. Had it only couple weeks and is working fine. Was plug and play with my Imac. Probably get a few more in near future.

stopped working after 2months never dropped or shake – all the time on the table and its just stopped working
Valentina Osinski (verified owner) –
Works well. Great price. Nice to have 5TB of photos in one place. Easy to back up with WD Discovery
Dewayne Deckow (verified owner) –
Simple, easy setup – ready to use in only a couple of minutes. USB 3.0 makes backing up through Time Machine quick and painless. Great item!
Wilton Schmeler (verified owner) –
Plug and play; just the way I like it; I’ve had several WD portable drives and have never had a problem. The transfer speeds from my iMac are quite fast. Remember the days of the big, clunky external drives you had to plug in? I’m glad those days are over.
Carole Stanton (verified owner) –
it’s way too noisy for a portable hard drive
Fiona Wiza (verified owner) –
Didn’t even last 5 months. received on 3/22/22. Put into use on 3/23/22. Used as a backup drive (Time Machine) on a brand new iMac. The drive started disconnecting itself on 8/8/22 and will no longer mount. Never dropped or abused. It just sat on a desk for 4.5 months.

Plug’n play, easy peezy, awesome drive

Worked right out of the box with time Machine.

Passport so far works great. Have had it a few weeks.

Small did the job with no problem. Simply plug and play. Easy.

This drive is really fast, 3 times faster than USB 3.0. Worked great .
