Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Mac, it comes preformatted HFS+ for macOS Mojave, High Sierra, and Sierra. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable HFS+ driver for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Windows compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

I use the hard drive for backup of my McBookAir. There is no problem with the disk but there is problem with TimeMacine which more often than not cannot crete directory for the backup. This is not the drive, this is the Apple OS.

This hard drive it is very small and it doesn’t need external power. It is very fast and it comes with USB-C adapter to USB 2, so I can use it on my MacBook Pro and my older iMac.

I have had WD & Seagate HDs for 15 years. I prefer WD. I had some of my 8-10 year old WD 2TB Hardrives die on me this year, so I bought this to replace them. So far, the speed is faster than my other ones. The USB-C is nice. I have only had it two weeks, so we’ll see if they last 10 years like some of my other HDs.

Arrived quickly and well packaged like every order from B&H. I reformatted for my MacBook with a single partition and then used Carbon Copy to move 1TB from a failing Seagate 2TB external 3.5 HD. I have not measured performance but I can say that all my photos are on this drive and accessed from Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. Performance is acceptable for me. The portability is perfect. Its much easier to carry than an external desktop case. I backup several times a week using CC to a 4TB external USB 3 Hitachi TOURO. I have SAFETYNET on so that any error such as accidental delete of a file can be recovered. Its a good setup for just over a couple hundred dollars.

As for the products performance, it works just fine. I was a little disappointed though when the product was bigger than i expected when it arrived. In the picture they are actually showing the 1TB model, the 2TB is actually twice the height. So, beware, if you are looking for a tiny drive, you will prob. be in for a shock when it arrives. Also, from the picture, it appears to be made with a metal outer shell, but it’s just plastic colored to look metal. The name titanium was misleading. I’m sure this is a great product functionally, but i was really hoping for a super small heavy duty drive, and it turned out to not be what i had hoped for.

This Portable HDD is beautiful and in 2017 has the best performance in the mechanical area, I widely recommend to all the IT’s and to all the people who want to storage big files and the qualityis hugeee!!! Arrived packed well and performed as expected. Software acceptable. Was not disappointed in performance or quality. Only draw back was unit had less than 4 TB. (3.5 TB) The 1 TB passport I am is full, so I got this for additional back-up. Would not purchase any other brand. Would have given 5 stars if storage was 4 TB.
