Expand the storage on your Mac and back up photos, video, music, and documents using the silver 4TB My Passport Ultra USB 3.0 Type-C External Hard Drive from WD. This drive is equipped with 4TB of storage and a USB 3.0 Type-C interface. If your Mac doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, an included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter helps ensure compatibility with older systems. This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Mac, it comes preformatted HFS+ for macOS Mojave, High Sierra, and Sierra. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable HFS+ driver for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Windows compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

I always turn to WD for my storage needs, as their products can always be relied.on. Supet fast, low profile, and b and h was even able to match best buy’s cheaper price!

I have many 2 and 3 TG and never had problem up until now. The reviews on the net for seagate are not as good. Many said problems often occur within 2 years.

Got my 1.5tb drive for my photos. Comes in handy for school. The drive works well enough, no problems so far. Never had any problems with WD. Little to no delay on use.

Perhaps it is the white, but it doesn’t seem as good quality as last year’s model.

Have been using it now for about 3 weeks and it is quick enough to hold all of my photos and easily transfer on and off them as I need to edit them. The only gotcha is that if you are using this on a Mac you need to reformat the drive for HFS.

When I plugged it in… had to go into the C drive to open each WD file to allow it to run. No window popped up.

I own the 4TB My Passport Ultra and it stopped being recognized by my MacBook Pro during photo transfer in Lightroom. Support told me it was gone and gave me a list of businesses to recover the photos; $500-$1300 for recovery services. Do not buy WD products! They don’t stand behind their hardware or software as it’s all 3rd party support charging crazy amounts of money, not if they fail, but when. Very poor business!

Works great. Large capacity at a great price. Purchased to replace a crashed drive that was mostly backed up…I am thinking of getting another to insure ongoing, simultaneous backup.

Fast write speed. Very sleek and compact. Use it to backup my digital photos, especially RAW files, due to the high capacity

Great portable drive works with Apple’s Time Machine software but you have to reformat the drive for their filesystem. The white model cost $ more than the other colors apparently because Mac owners who buy this all want the white version. You can save $ by just buying another color.

Ideal backup and storage at a good price.

Used to backup WD desktop external hard drives. Prior to the Passport I used a second desktop external drive for backup and had to buy a second fireproof safe. Now the Passport takes the place of those hard drives and utilizes a fraction of the safe space. And when I need to retrieve a file the single USB/power source is far more convenient. I can also run the passport without a conflict with the desktop drive.

This is the first time I am trying Western Digital after having other brands fail. It seems that so far so good, and everything is working fast and smooth
