This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Mac, it comes preformatted HFS+ for macOS Mojave, High Sierra, and Sierra. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable HFS+ driver for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Windows compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

Excellent drive, was getting 100mps transfer on my photos and mp4 movies, camera videos I have taken. Was very please with the transfer rates and time it took. Will buy again when I get this close to full on the drive. Also love the tiny footprint of the drive. Takes up no room.

I have bought a few of these drives over the years and will continue to do so. Great portable hard drives at a great cost with quick data transfer speeds. Although they are not meant for editing, I have actually used them in the past when a client has sprung some request on me. Best used for storage only though.

I have several of these drives for backups and travel photos. The USB 3 speed is nice. You need to be careful to align the cord plug wit the drive receptacle to not cause damage. The WD software for testing the drive is reasonable but I wish it would give more info than just passed. It would be nice to have details about the results like if any bad sector are found, how many tested etc. If the plug in was a bit more reliable/easy and the test software gave more info, I would rate this 5 stars instead of 4.

It is plug and play and works just as described and expected. You cannot go wrong with this portable storage device. Good buy. 2 TB should last a very long time. I like that it is small enough to take with me where ever I go, if needed.
