Western Digital makes a great NAS drive. I have 4 2tb and 1 6tb Red Pro 7200 drives. These are on 24/7 everyday. They work flawlessly. They are fast and beyond reliable. They are also very reasonably priced.

Used this drive in an Avastor HDX Pro external Hard Drive Enclosure. It was easy to install and format and has worked very well for the past three weeks at least. Am currently using it for video files with no issues.
Chelsey Rowe (verified owner) –
These are the best NAS drives I have used. Period.

My NAS appears to run faster than the 5400rpm drives I replaced. The only thing I noticed is that the these makes a low click sound every few seconds. Not sure if this is normal, but drive passes diagnostics and NAS reports them healthy. Have to wait and see only be running for about 2wks…
Bret Stracke (verified owner) –
The HD makes metal clicking noises as it’s working. I particularly noticed it while writing onto it.

WD has long been my choice of spinning drive with great support for any issues under their substantial warranty and very few problems overall. These are the largest drives I’ve bought to date and they’ve only been in use for a few weeks, performing as expected. B&H service was great as usual!

Bought 2 of these WD 8TB Red Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5″ Internal NAS HDD to use in Drobo 8…. Drobo works fine with my old 2TB WD. New 8TB was red marked right away as defective. Tried to use them as single second drive in HP computer – not working eiser.

Great replacement drive for my NAS. Good price, arrived quickly.

We’re using three of these in a RAID for the archive on our imaging system. These beauties haven’t even blinked at what we’ve thrown at them, we add about 5gb a day M-F and haven’t had a single issue.

Just what I needed to change an aging computer into a Linux powered NAS. It’s a little noisy, and seems to make a random clunk noise every 15 seconds, but this is exactly the same as the other 3 RED drives I own, so I don’t think it’s a problem with the drive.

I’m a big fan of big drives. Western Digital has been a reliable workhorse for my data backup.

This WD new big 5TB Red drive! They have another 6TB Red, but it only has 64mg buffer, this bad boy has double or 128mg buffer. Also this drive comes with the same warranty as their back drives, 5 years! The is quick and quiet. Designed to run in a NAS or Server. I need more space and this was the drive I was looking for.
Clemmie Gerlach (verified owner) –
3 of 6 drives dead on arrival. I do not recommend them especially if you are using it for NAS storage. It makes me nervous how long the drives will last.
Mauricio Barton (verified owner) –
I wanted a larger drive for my Drobo 5N and this one was recommended by Drobo as an excellent choice. Easy install and now I have 8TB more storage.
Abdullah Nicolas (verified owner) –
Bought several of these drives for a multimedia NAS system. It has performed better than expected with quick seek times, and great compatibility with almost any NAS build. These drives are definitely worth the slightly higher price, just for the warranty alone, but for the other reasons I listed as well.

I needed a replacement drive for my Drobo. The existing 500 Gb drive was old and was giving signs of failing. Most of my NAS drives have been Western Digital, so I went for this one. The price was good for a 7,200 RPM CRM drive. Seems to be working well. Time will tell, but I have had good luck with WD drives so far. I would definitely buy from B&H, because some of the other vendor’s do sell drives that have been sitting on the shelf for some time. This drive date of manufacture was 06/14/2021.

Good drive designed for use in a NAS enclosure with multiple hard drives. For only $0.95 more per drive you can buy the newer model of the WD Red Pro 6TB hard drive that has double the cache memory and a higher sequential read rate.

Excellent performing drives over both of my NAS systems. Quiet, reliable.
