How can I complain? These 10 TB Pro drives were on sale for the same price as 8TB Pro drives on sale! And, yes, they are good drives. I have been populating all of my NAS’s with WD Reds, Red Pluses, and Red Pros for years.
Derrick Conroy (verified owner) –
WD’s Red Pro (7200rpm) Drives are my server/NAS drives of choice and these 6tb have matched my expectations.

I have eight of these drives in a Synology DS3617xs with room for more. I have trusted Western Digital drives to store my data for years and never had a problem. These Pro series drives are designed for larger NAS systems and have been performing perfectly without any issue since they were installed. Expensive, yes, but I wouldn’t trust my data to anything else in a large array.

Received my order very fast. Great packing. The customer service was very helpful and made sure I ordered the right equipment for what I was trying to achieve. Would highly recommend to my friends and family. I will be back to order more. Great prices as well. Thanks B&H

No issues so far. It’s being used to run a Plex Media Server. It’s a little noisier than the 1TB that was in previously, that’s my only complaint. It was easy to install and came packaged very well from B&H.

I installed these 6 TB drives in a Synology DS1815+ . They operate quietly , low themperature , and are fast ( I get up to 125 MB/s with my setup). The 5 years warranty is a plus. They are more cost effective ways to store large amount of data , but at my acceptable risk level, these drives provide the best solution I could find today .

I bought four of these for my first RAID system and have been happy with the performance.

I Decided to go with a retail pkg this time. I had high hopes for the OEM WD Black, 4TB. It arrived well packed in the usual protective foil, but dead for whatever reason. The Red Pro Retail installed and partitioned without a hitch. The drive is noisier than I’m used to, but has been working fine to date. I only gave it 3 stars because of the length of time it has been in use ~2 wks. So it is OK as of now. It will get five stars if it is still working fine after a year.

My NAS had been running 4TB HGST NAS drives that ran warm (40-42 C), so it was nice to see these running at 36 degrees. They are also audibly quieter than the HGST drives when seeking. Therefore, the only drawback for these then is price. Yes, you can shuck external Elements or EasyStores, but these come with a 5-year warranty and are what the specs state. Play the HDD lottery by shucking the others, but I didn’t want to get saddled with air-filled drives, which are nosier and warmer.

I recently purchased a NAS system and loaded it up with these drives. These drives are quiet and stable, and my NAS has been running perfectly since I installed everything and backed up all my files to it; I couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend these drives!

I’ve always had good luck with WD drives. The warranty for the Pro isn’t too shabby either. These Red Pro NAS drives are what I use in the two NAS systems I have setup. My only complaint is they do sound like coffee grinders when big write evolutions are taking place.

These drives have never failed on me. Buying another one.

I did a ton of reserch before deciding on these. I bought five of these for a Drobo 5DT. No complaints so far.

While this unit is to replace a DOA (1 out of 6), I have no complaints with these WD drives. Actually, the purchase from B&H was better than purchasing directly from WD in that this one was manufactured very recently while the one from the WD store was manufactured in December 2019 (not happy about that and maybe the reason why one was DOA).
Rosalia Weber (verified owner) –
I only have them a week. I bought 4 to install in a Synology NAS. Very fast.

The drive is fast but noisy as compared to the WD 2tb it replaced.

First off, fast and safe shipping from B&H! I am slowly upgrading the storage capacity in my Drobo 5N (also purchased from B&H years ago). There are a couple of things to note if you will be doing the same: – My original config was 5 x 4TB drives, and I recently started running low on free space. If you want to increase capacity, and all current drives are the same size, you will have to replace TWO drives as mentioned here: http://dashboardhelp.drobo.com/guide/250/en/5N_Adding_Capacity_or_Drives.htm. – At the time my 5N was originally configured, the firmware only supported 16TB total volume size. That said, after replacing 2 of the existing 4TB drives with 2 10TB drives, I was left with unallocated space, which could not be utilized. The only way to take advantage of the added space was to factory-restore the 5N after updating to the latest firmware (which now supports 64TB max volume size). As my 5N is used purely for backup, it wasn’t a problem factory-restoring and copying everything over again. Otherwise, you will need to back up everything on the Drobo before restoring.

These drives work great in my NAS environment.

We use these drives in Synology and other NAS devices. They are the best balance today of performance and price. We have had no problems to date with the many we’ve purchased.
