This is the second one I have purchased for my NAS system. Great quality and compatability .

The hard drive read write times are not the gating factor in performance with a NAS file server and so the higher RPM drives add only more cost and run much hotter. An extra 15 to 20 degrees F may not make a difference but why take the chance? It also requires a higher fan speed for cooling the drives which can be a problem in an office or home office situation. In a NAS enclosure there are dead spaces and certain drives will not get as much cooling from the fan and this can shorten their life. If there was a discernable gain with higher RPM drives it would be different but in a NAS as tests have shown this is not likely to be the case.

Heard nothing but great things about these drives and will agree that they are working great so far! All is good!

I wanted to upgrade my 2 4T WD Red Pro NAS HDD to 2 WD 10T Red Pro. I didn’t want to lose my data along the way. I read the instructions, I sent a note to Synology Customer Care, and I looked it up on the internet. They all said the same thing. But, I was leary. After replacing the first drive, it still showed 4T drive space. Only after the second drive was replaced did the NAS system show 10T drive space. What a relief. Love my Synology NAS that I got from BHPhoto for Christmas and I wouldn’t use anything other than WD Red Pro HDD’s in it. Hopefully, I am now set for a long time. I have 30 years of data and way too many photos. But, I doubt I’ll still be around in another 30 years, so I have faith this will do me.

Great product, highly recommended.

I own many of these drives. Three factors important for me include the 5 year warranty, 7200 RPM and 64MB cache. I’ve given up on many of the other name brand manufactures and will only buy the WD Red Pro to house my data in any multi drive format solution.

I used these drives to upgrade my Synology NAS and it went without any problems. The drives are working as expected and are relatively quiet. I looked at all the specials on all the other drives and decided that the reputation of WD drives was worth the extra money. I have used WD drives for years and have excellent experience with them.

I purchased four of these drives to replace the 4 WD 6TB drives in my Synology DS918+ server. The drives are configured as two 10TB RAID1 drives and max out the capacity of the server. I never experienced any issues with the old drives, which is why I purchased the WD units, I just needed greater capacity. The old drives will find use in another server. The new drives worked perfectly out of the box, and have been running constantly since installation without any issues. I have been, and continue to be, very satisfied with these WD Red Pro drives.

Flawless early performance. Softraid certified the two identical drives the first time. The two identical drives are set up in a Raid 1 configuration. Only time will reveal the quality of the drives.

This disk merely replaces a failed disk and is a direct drop-in replacement.

I needed to add a second hard drive to my computer and after checking reports and what some top computer builders were using I went with the WD Red Pro drive. It’s solid and reliable, made for heavy use. I put it in my computer, connected it up and after initializing and formatting the drive, it worked without any problems. That’s want you want.

Using 16 of these in QNAP Thunderbolt NAS enclosures and they are proving to be fast, consistent and affordable drives. I had one failure shortly after installing the first set of 8. Western Digital has an excellent warranty return system in place, and I received a backup drive in just a couple of days.

Bought the package of four, and unbelievably all of them were DOA. Synology NAS couldn’t format any of them, so I ran the WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics on all of them. All four failed with too many bad sectors. Finally confirmed the status of these drives with a WD technician. No way I’m trusting my data to these drives when they are this bad. Going with the Seagate Ironwolf Pros.

Works great in my Drobo5N

Used these drives for a Synology DS718+ NAS. Things are running great just a few weeks in – totally happy with the whole transaction!

Both drives were making noise and detected as not working by DROBO they were supposed to work with and by HP computer – when I tried to use them as the second hard drive. looking for ways to return or exchange them

Ordered four for use in an OWC ThunderBay 4 / TB2 enclosure. Intent was to use all 4 in a SoftRAID-based RAID 5 setup. Attempted to mount all four drives: One arrived DOA, would not mount. One would mount, but not initialize in SoftRAID or Disk Utility. Of the two that successfully mounted and initialized, one failed certification in SoftRAID after a few minutes. I’ve had nothing but good results in the past with WD drives and with OWC enclosures – all ordered from other vendors. I suspect B&H’s usual damage-prone shipping methods are to blame. Sending these all back and ordering from a more reliable vendor.

I’ve tested the standard red against the PRO- worth the added cost if performance is critical to your requirements

I’ve just upgraded two 10TB Red Pro HD’s to 16TB Red Pro’s in my NAS because I was running out of space. I ran the disks through two complete surface tests with no errors before putting them in my NAS. I haven’t had them long enough to speak to their durability, but based on my experience with my 10TB Red Pros I expect them to be around a long time.
