Great replacement drive for my NAS. Good price, arrived quickly.

Western Digital makes a great NAS drive. I have 4 2tb and 1 6tb Red Pro 7200 drives. These are on 24/7 everyday. They work flawlessly. They are fast and beyond reliable. They are also very reasonably priced.

While this unit is to replace a DOA (1 out of 6), I have no complaints with these WD drives. Actually, the purchase from B&H was better than purchasing directly from WD in that this one was manufactured very recently while the one from the WD store was manufactured in December 2019 (not happy about that and maybe the reason why one was DOA).

aside from the product being awesome. I am in Australia and for me the value and time out reached any thing I could have purchased in Australia. Even with duty, taxs and exchange rate it was cheaper and delivered in record time

3 of 6 drives dead on arrival. I do not recommend them especially if you are using it for NAS storage. It makes me nervous how long the drives will last.
Lon Cole (verified owner) –
This is my first time using WD drive. I used to use HGST but they got acquired by WD a few years ago so I have no other choice. The drive is dead on arrival. It would not spin and had loud clicking sound. I read a lot of bad reviews about WD Red Pro but I wanted to give them a chance. I do not recommend them especially if you are using it for NAS storage. I don’t believe the drive will last.

Longer warranty means more piece of mind.

These are very impressive HDDs that operate at 7.200 RPM and remain cool. Cool operating temperatures promote HDD life!

I’ve tested the standard red against the PRO- worth the added cost if performance is critical to your requirements

Using in my Synology Diskstation. Dependable and have lasted a long time. B&H price much better than Amazon.

I recently purchased a NAS system and loaded it up with these drives. These drives are quiet and stable, and my NAS has been running perfectly since I installed everything and backed up all my files to it; I couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend these drives!
Erwin Durgan (verified owner) –
WD has long been my choice of spinning drive with great support for any issues under their substantial warranty and very few problems overall. These are the largest drives I’ve bought to date and they’ve only been in use for a few weeks, performing as expected. B&H service was great as usual!
Ardith Lakin (verified owner) –
I ordered these for the Synology DS218+. They’re fast and work great. Setup with the DS218+ was simple.

The WD Red Pro is my favorite for high demand situations such as servers and NAS. Be sure to get the Pro as it is far superior to the standard Red
Janiya Russel (verified owner) –
These are the best NAS drives I have used. Period.

Solid performing drive. Clear difference using 7200rpm in NAS but has to be both or all drives in RAID to gain full performance. Have had these drives for years with zero issues. Simply upgrading capacity from 3 to 6TB. Super fast shipping. B&H never disappoints.
Rosario Walsh (verified owner) –
I purchased four of these drives to replace the 4 WD 6TB drives in my Synology DS918+ server. The drives are configured as two 10TB RAID1 drives and max out the capacity of the server. I never experienced any issues with the old drives, which is why I purchased the WD units, I just needed greater capacity. The old drives will find use in another server. The new drives worked perfectly out of the box, and have been running constantly since installation without any issues. I have been, and continue to be, very satisfied with these WD Red Pro drives.
Ericka Fahey (verified owner) –
So far works great. Excellent data transfer rate.
Macie Kozey (verified owner) –
My NAS appears to run faster than the 5400rpm drives I replaced. The only thing I noticed is that the these makes a low click sound every few seconds. Not sure if this is normal, but drive passes diagnostics and NAS reports them healthy. Have to wait and see only be running for about 2wks…

Ive only used the drive for a few weeks, but it seems ok. I replaced a fried WD 4TB Black Caviar that died under warranty. I send the 4TB drive in to WD for warranty replacement and should get the replacement this week. Very quick turnaround, btw. The WD 6TD drive supposedly has better specs – Higher MTBF, Cache, etc, but I dont see much of a difference in my applications. I also thought that since this is a NAS drive, it might be more robust. Remember, regardless of which drive that you get or how robust it is supposed to be, rule #1 is to always backup
