Just received the WD and tested the drive installed in an Orico external case. The drive was very quick (505mb/s) transferring a 2.7gb file. Formatting it was also very quick. Highly recommended

Decent performance for the price. On PCIe v4 motherboards it can give a itself slight edge over similar offerings in this range that are PCIe v3 which gives it a bit more value for the dollar.

Just installed this on my new gaming PC build and I love it! Boot and load times are incredibly quick for games. Will more than likely be adding another one to my second m.2 slot.

the price was very reasonable and I really like the speed. the benchmark suggests the performance is slightly below Samsung 970 EVO, however it was a huge leap from ADATA SU800 and I really like its speed It definitely helps productivity on my video editing.

The only problem I had installing was limited space inside my PC. I had to remove the display adapter to have enough room to insert the drive properly and insert the tiny retaining screw. Once everything was put back together and I got my OS configured to use the drive, I saw that it is as fast as advertised. It is about seven times as fast as my SATA III SSD, and about 14 times as fast as my SATA III HDD. And I can really tell a difference in the everyday use of my Arch Linux PC.

SSD was easy to install and very fast (I used for COD warzone and Destiny) I might switch my OS to it later.

I placed this in a USB-C enclosure so it is limited to USB-C speeds but I backed up my MacBook Pro using Carbon Copy Cloner and it is fast, 470 Gbytes in 45 minutes vs 1 hr 37 minutes for an Intel 660p and over 3 hours for a conventional hard drive.

I put this in my 21.5″ 2019 iMac using a Sintech adapter and it’s obviously a huge improvement over the stock Fusion drive (24GB custom NVMe drive paired with a 1TB 5400 2.5″ HDD). Note that an NVMe drive is only compatible with iMacs that originally came with a Fusion drive. Also if you replace the HDD with a SATA SSD (which I did as well), you can’t combine it with this NVMe drive into a Fusion drive, so you’ll have 2 separate logical drives to work with. Finally, the iMac disassembly and install is ridiculously complex. But for me it’s worth it, and running beautifully so far.

Excellent performance. It just does everything a good NVMe SSD should do!

The first and most important thing to note is that if needed the technical support at at B&H is better than others! I bought a new pc , vendor direct, latest model with top tier business support options. The vendor couldn’t tell me st all if this ssd with heat sinks would fit in my pc . Even with second tier support escalation. B & H answered immediately YES and they were tight ! Fit perfectly and whether my pc or my pc with the WD SSD gaming Black unit … the computer is running very cool and quiet ! Shipped and received within a few days . Two notes : the drive did not include a mounting screw , and it should have ! I installed with one of the outer case screws which is a mm too long ! The included paperwork was not WD . I guess WD bought out one of their competition, Sanfisc

Got this on sale – love the speed and ease of installation. Iit’s also really tiny. Does not come with screw or standoff, those should come with your motherboard.

I will be adding more of these as needed. Really nice.
