When paired with an SSD for a dual-drive configuration, you’ll further benefit from the caching of your OS onto the SSD for increased performance.
This 8TB drive operates using a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a 256MB cache, and a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, all of which help to ensure uninterrupted data transfers with a sustained rate of up to 263 MB/s. This drive also features high levels of reliability, with 300,000 load/unload cycles and <1 in 1014 non-recoverable read errors per bits read. Also built into this drive are WD’s StableTrac and Dynamic Cache Technology to help increase reliability and optimize performance.

Horrible hdd. Ran over 1600 celsius under load and 1000 when idle. Horrible thing almost melting my hand when i touched this thing. i used it once when i tried to download minecraft and then it sparked and boomed. good thing i didnt die. bad product.

At this point it works pretty much like any other internal drive. I’ll know better 5 yrs from now if it is still working. I installed this in an external usb housing from OWA and configured it from a MAC using ExFat. No issues.

I bought the drive in order to replace existing c drive which is 4 years old. The first drive I got had to be replaced since it crashed from day one. Since the of the installation the second drive, it has been working fine with good response time (better than the Seagate I replaced). In both cases the cloning software Acronis, did not work! I tried both the WD and the Seagate versions. Disabling the antivirus did not help and I could not find a reasonable solution. WD support was below any reasonable expectation. I spent more time my personal info and very little time in resolving the issue. They never called back as they promised nor demonstrated any technical skills. Eventually I used Macrium which worked fine without any problem. If you are thinking to replace existing C drive – think about the cloning software if you are looking to get a drive with a good performance you MAY get a working drive with good perfromance

I have three of the 6TB and two 4TB WD Black drives that I purchased in the last few years and never had a problem with any of them. Excellent drives. They do run hot tho, make sure you have good airflow in your case!

I have a couple of the 4TB and couple of the 6TB WD black drives. They all perform well. No issues. One thing to note is because they are high performance drives they tend to run hot. Make sure there is plenty of air flow.

When I bought this drive it was advertised as a WD4003FAEX, but when I got it it was a WD4003FZEX. It was a good deal for a FAEX, but just a meh deal for the FZEX. I will keep them as they are still good drives though.
