Designed for digital artists, video editors, photographers, gamers, system builders, and more, the 10TB WD_BLACK Performance SATA III 3.5″ Internal Hard Drive from WD is optimized for drive performance so you can spend more time experiencing the things you love most. When paired with an SSD for a dual-drive configuration, you’ll further benefit from the caching of your OS onto the SSD for increased performance.
This 10TB drive operates using a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a 256MB cache, and a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, all of which help to ensure uninterrupted data transfers with a sustained rate of up to 263 MB/s. This drive also features high levels of reliability, with 300,000 load/unload cycles and <1 in 1014 non-recoverable read errors per bits read. Also built into this drive are WD’s StableTrac and Dynamic Cache Technology to help increase reliability and optimize performance.

Had many of these over the years and never disappointed. Prefer them over the cloud because I won this and once you store your info in a cloud they can change the pricing on you and you’re at their mercy. Great for video storage!

WD Black a great drive

Compared to an ssd the price per GB for this hdd is much better. This was the perfect choice for me since I needed a larger drive to use for storage and the high price for lower storage capacity ssd was not worth it for me. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for storage on a budget, but are unwilling to give up reliability.

Upgrading from 1TBs. I have Caviar Blacks now but wanted to go larger. They’re faster than the old 1TBs and just what I was hoping for.

I ordered one HD at night and changed the quantity to 2 next morning. But the price got changed by then. The sales person helped me and matched to the previous price for the 2nd drive and send the order as one. Great service.

I have used many drives over the years but the WD Caviar Black always seem to come out in top. Unless your using a SSD, drive I feel these are the fastest most reliable mechanical drives you can get

Tested using blackmagic speed test: 150 read and 150 write using external usb 3.0

Very fast but a little noisy. I added pads to the feet of the drive case to quiet the transmission through the desktop and it quieted down quite a bit.

I bought 2 of these and both are working great after about a month.

I installed 2 of these drives in a 2012 Mac Pro Tower in less than half an hour. They perform well and appear to be stable. They are used to store intensive material, like video and photographs.

I have this drive running in my surveillance DVR now for about 15 months and it really is the quality I would expect from Western Digital. Today I exchanged this drive for a 3TB purple drive (WD of course), just to maximize the capacity of my DVR. I have never really noticed it but this drive creates a lot of heat when used 24/7 . I know this drive was never meant to be in a DVR but considering the quality of the WD drives, I tried it for about 15 months. That in fact the drive went through this long time running 24/7, confirms my trust in WD drives once more. Out of 35 drives I bought over the years I had only two that failed (fortunately within warranty). Even my oldest drive from 2002 is still up and running. I never was that lucky with drives from other manufacturers.

This drive is the Master HD in my graphics desktop and now I can depend on its’ quality not to crash. Set up was as easy as it can be and the packaging was very well designed. I purchased 2 of these drives for both of my Master Desktop workstations as OS and program only drives. I will buy much larger WD Black HDs for mass storage and back up. Great HD.

I use these HDDs to archive and store video projects (including the associated video files). So far, so good! Hopefully they’ll function if/when I need to retrieve an archived video file for future projects.

This drive is used in an enclosure for raw storage on a Mac. It is quiet and performs as expected. One needs to be aware that, on a Mac, the drive icon will not show up until the drive is reformatted. Instead, the user will see an error message declaring the drive unreadable. At that point the user will be given the opportunity to format.

I’m getting the apparently well-known PWL (Preemptive/Preventative Wear-Leveling) noise many people report with this drive. This is incredibly and constantly annoying to me, but this drive has far worse problems than that. After several months of wondering what’s wrong with my system or my Windows install or everything else under the sun, I’ve realized after a bunch of time-consuming web research that it’s actually this hard drive causing my problems: The drive constantly parks its head when not in use for a short amount of time, regularly causing work-stoppage-level File Explorer freezes/meltdowns. I purchased this drive specifically because of its reputation for speed and centered my in-workstation storage on it, so having this debilitating feature sneaked in is a real rug-pull for me. It will be difficult and time-consuming to transfer all of this data to a new drive of this size and set it up again, so I’m stuck with this awful performance for the time being until I can find the time to take on the task. Very frustrated, it may be a long time before I can bring myself to trust WD again.

I bought the drive in order to replace existing c drive which is 4 years old. The first drive I got had to be replaced since it crashed from day one. Since the of the installation the second drive, it has been working fine with good response time (better than the Seagate I replaced). In both cases the cloning software Acronis, did not work! I tried both the WD and the Seagate versions. Disabling the antivirus did not help and I could not find a reasonable solution. WD support was below any reasonable expectation. I spent more time my personal info and very little time in resolving the issue. They never called back as they promised nor demonstrated any technical skills. Eventually I used Macrium which worked fine without any problem. If you are thinking to replace existing C drive – think about the cloning software if you are looking to get a drive with a good performance you MAY get a working drive with good perfromance

Western Digital are my go to hard drives. I purchased four of these 6TB drives to use with disk carrier for backing up my LR images. Fast and so far no problems. My experience with WD disks has always been great.
