Designed for digital artists, video editors, photographers, gamers, system builders, and more, the 10TB WD_BLACK Performance SATA III 3.5″ Internal Hard Drive from WD is optimized for drive performance so you can spend more time experiencing the things you love most. When paired with an SSD for a dual-drive configuration, you’ll further benefit from the caching of your OS onto the SSD for increased performance.
This 10TB drive operates using a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a 256MB cache, and a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, all of which help to ensure uninterrupted data transfers with a sustained rate of up to 263 MB/s. This drive also features high levels of reliability, with 300,000 load/unload cycles and <1 in 1014 non-recoverable read errors per bits read. Also built into this drive are WD’s StableTrac and Dynamic Cache Technology to help increase reliability and optimize performance.

I bought this HD as a replacement for my aging Caviar black that I purchased back in 2009 to use as an external. This first thing I noticed upon powering on the new hd was the low noise level. My 2009 version always made an audible resonance, which required placing a book under it to dampen the noise. This new drive doesn’t need it at all.

I always had good luck with Western Digital and found them to be dependable. WD Black, to be more specific. I’m going to order 3 more of these to set up a RAID system.

The Western Digital 1TB Desktop Performance Caviar Black HDD Retail Kit (WD1003FZEX) is a quality internal computer hard drive. The B&H store sells this drive at a very reasonable price, and provides fast shipping. I’ve used it on a refurbished desktop computer and expect to get over five years of service. I plan on purchasing more of these dives to provide a second data drive and a portable external hard drive this I can depend on. There are no negatives about this drive.

WD black all the way! They arrived so quickly and the price was great..BH is a great company to deal with and customer service is prompt and on point

A reliable manufacturer (WD) with a great 5-year warranty purchased through a great retailer (B&H) is the way to go. It was great right out of the box, and I dont have to worry if it fails any time soon.

WD produces top of the line HDD, not problem at that. However, for new HDDs, they implemented this PWL which suppose to improve longivity of the products. It sounds nice, and yeah it sounds freaking annoying. It causes HDDs to click every 5 seconds even if they are on idle. It is not just the faint clicking you use to hear when they are working, no, it shurks hard that it moves the case so is my desk. I can just feel the vibration. And it constantly keep doing it for every 5 seconds. I bought 2 4 TB and 1 6TB, all does it. So freaking annoying. There is no way a person can stand that in a quiet room. All of mine made in Thailand, I am not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I checked online and it has been the problem since 3 yrs ago. So make sure you know what you are getting. Considering the fantastic return policy BH provides, but it is very annoying for the process. Button line, keep your box so you might need to use it for the return. Fedex charges ridiculous amount for packging. I miss UPS days.

Been using WD Black drives over the years from 1g to 10gb now (skipped the 8gb drive). Getting ~125mb/s sustained transfer while copying (via external USB3) ~6gb of game files from my old drive WD Black. Instead of using explorer to copy I used the FastCopy (https://fastcopy.jp/) utility which performed better than the default Microsoft Explorer copy.

I have only had the HDD installed for a week and it is performing fine. It might be a little faster than the older Seagate it replaced. I am disappointed in all the noise it makes. It is very loud. My Seagate was quite, but only a 2-year warranty. I went with WD because of the 5-year warranty.

I have used these Black drives exclusively in my Drobo for many years and have never had one go down. I use them for a few years and switch them out as larger ones become available. They’ve been so good to me that I wouldn’t consider any other brand at this point. I’ve probably had ten.

Works, not much else to say

Replaced the internal HDD in a 2009 iMac. Working without any problems. Worth every cent. More than enough storage for efficient operation.

Some complain of nose. My computer case is open and very close (3 feet, 1 meter from my ear) and I find no problem with noise. My location is very quite.

Got it to keep my 256GB OS drive backed up with multiple versions. All good over a year later.

Apparently Windows 10 has a size limitation when partitioning large Hard Drives into sizes larger than 2 TB – Originally it was to be split 50/50, eventually the Hard Drive was split roughly 30/30/30 with a loss of approx. 20% (when you partition you always lose some space). I dont know why this approx. 2 TB limit is so. However, the drive is quick and agile, performance is much better than a plug-in drive (USB) with faster response time. If you only have one choice for a new physical hard drive – A Western Digital is hard to surpass.

Already have it half full. Much faster than previous drive.

I’ve used a lot of hard drives in my life. WD black series drives are fantastically reliable. But at this point you might as well but the newer black series, unless the older caviar version is cheaper.

Works well in conjunction with an SSD primary drive.

It spins up, it holds data, what more can you ask for. Replaced an old drive that failed in my RAID. Ask me in two years if it’s still good.
