Designed for digital artists, video editors, photographers, gamers, system builders, and more, the 10TB WD_BLACK Performance SATA III 3.5″ Internal Hard Drive from WD is optimized for drive performance so you can spend more time experiencing the things you love most. When paired with an SSD for a dual-drive configuration, you’ll further benefit from the caching of your OS onto the SSD for increased performance.
This 10TB drive operates using a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a 256MB cache, and a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, all of which help to ensure uninterrupted data transfers with a sustained rate of up to 263 MB/s. This drive also features high levels of reliability, with 300,000 load/unload cycles and <1 in 1014 non-recoverable read errors per bits read. Also built into this drive are WD’s StableTrac and Dynamic Cache Technology to help increase reliability and optimize performance.

I just added these to a build I put together for video production and they’ve made a tremendous impact on my workflow. Western Digital is a brand I have used in the past and they never disappoint. I highly recommend.

I shoot a lot of video, mostly in ProRes422, which takes a lot of space. I record to an SSD then copy the video to a hard drive like this, for editing and archiving the project. I use these in a 5 drive enclosure, and rotate them as one fills up (which doesn’t take long). I don’t recycle the drives, except for data recovery, but keep them in archival plastic boxes for future reference. With a dozen or so projects on a disk, some active, and frequent revisits for clients, it’s impractical to reuse the discs anyway. I used to archive to BD discs, but it takes 5-6 to backup a 128 GB SD card, much less a 2 TB SSD (3-14 hours of video).

Went to replace my HTSC drives in a G-raid by G Tech and they work and function perfectly

I had WD black drives in my previous build running for past 7 years, I hope I am lucky again. The drives are quiet and plenty zippy for my home PC

Great product because of size and price.

I have used WD Black drives exclusively in my Drobo 5D for about 5 years. I am a photographer and need the capacity, performance, and longevity of these drives. I started with 5 x 1TB drives, and had already upgraded 3 of them with 4TB Drives. Wanted a little more capacity, so decided to upgrade the 2 remaining 1TB drives with these 4TB drives. Everything went perfectly, the new drives are installed and performing as expected. B&H has a great price on these 4TB drives and excellent service as always.

This is a great drive. Large capacity, incredibly fast, and is quieter than the Seagate I replaced.

Can’t go wrong with WD Black. In an age where SSD’s are standard, you still can’t get this kind of local space for the price. Don’t use this as a main drive of course 😉

I have owned many WD Black drives over the years and have never had any problems with them. This drive is very quiet and I noticed a speed increase because of the larger cache. It’s almost to the point of not noticing a speed decrease compared to my SSD’s. Not to say my SSD’s aren’t faster but I don’t mind the wait. Would definitely recommend this drive.

Installed easy no problems Will use it as a storage drive and start my computer with a m.2 card. Saving space on the m.2 but at the same time the black wd is no slouch on speed.

Installed in a 5 year old Dell desktop. Immediate increase in boot speed, large programs load noticeably faster.

I buy only WD Black HDDs because of their high reliability (as opposed to other makes that didn’t). By now I have over a dozen, in 3 PCs and a couple of NAS boxes, with nary a problem. In addition, they offer good performance. This particular one turned in over 200MB/Sec in sequential read and write, using Parkdale.

2T WD Black internal hdd works great. Use it in my external hard drive shell with a esata connection to my D*** Set top Box for much more space for DVR recordings than D***** provides.

Bought two of these to accommodate my growing video storage needs. WDs are good quality drives that have served me well over several years.

Windows 7 64 bit has no trouble with the size of this drive. I partitioned this drive using GIUD however XP does not see it.And I’m not sure why? Ortherwise so far so good.
