Designed for digital artists, video editors, photographers, gamers, system builders, and more, the 10TB WD_BLACK Performance SATA III 3.5″ Internal Hard Drive from WD is optimized for drive performance so you can spend more time experiencing the things you love most. When paired with an SSD for a dual-drive configuration, you’ll further benefit from the caching of your OS onto the SSD for increased performance.
This 10TB drive operates using a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a 256MB cache, and a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, all of which help to ensure uninterrupted data transfers with a sustained rate of up to 263 MB/s. This drive also features high levels of reliability, with 300,000 load/unload cycles and <1 in 1014 non-recoverable read errors per bits read. Also built into this drive are WD’s StableTrac and Dynamic Cache Technology to help increase reliability and optimize performance.

People have reviewed this saying there is a noise issue – and, for me, the drive is about as noisy as my other older drives whether being accessed or idle. It is fast and so far has been rock solid.

Have always used Caviar Black. Had only 2 failures in 10 years. Not sure they’re quite as robust as they used to be, but still the best out there.

I have used WD Black drives for years. These new 6TB drives are the coolest and quietest running that I have ever experienced. Excellent for media or large game storage.

Quicker than the old 500’s. I’m pleased.

Hopefully will be dependable, only time will tell. It makes quite a bit of noise.

Drive was a little heavier than I expected, but still sits pretty well in my case and was installed easily. Being used as a secondary storage drive while the primary SSD is for Windows. Been about a month and so far there are no problems. The big deal breaker for me was the 5-year warranty on a Western Digital product, so I will see how this turns out down the road.

We use these in an industrial application, they do the job and perform well.

I needed a fast traditional hard drive. I can’t fully trust SSDs for long term storage yet. Not to mention the price differnce is astronomical. I usually get G-Drives but they were out of stock. WD owns both companies and the Black drives seem to get great reviews so I grabbed this one on sale. I mounted it in a HornetTek Jaws external enclosure and it’s been fine ever since. The only negative is it seems to take a while to be recognized on my Mac. This is the same thing with my smaller Elements 4TB drive. However, my WD 2TB drives and my 4TB G-Drive are quick to be recognized though so who knows. Little issues like that are why I keep several backup drives handy to minimize potential failures. No problems so far though so hopefully I have a few years of service in this one.

I’ve used a bunch of these for a long time. Consistently find good performance and durability.

Have had no trouble with my other Caviar Black Hard Drives so was happy to give these 4TB drives a spin as well.

B&H service – great! When I register these HD at WD site I get warranty till January 2024! This is one month more then 3 Years! All WD Blacks have 5 YEARS WARRANTY! Even in Q and A -one of answer said 5! not 3! What is going on?!

I purchased three (3) of the Western Digital Internal 4TB HDD with a five (5) year warranty to install in my Mac Pro that already has one (1) Western Digital 4TB HDD in it. In the early 1980’s I started using Western Digital for digital and analog storage in my computers. In 26 years of video editing I have never had a failure, and transferring data to new and larger HDD’s has always been a seamless effort using the Western Digital Cloning software that is available with all the Western Digital HDD’s.

I use the drives for photography backup. It is a 4 Gb drive, lots of storage. I purchased this type drive because of the quality of the drive and 5 yr. waranty. When installed, I noticed that it/they produce a bit more noise than I thought it/they would, for a drive with this high a rating.

I have bought several drives from here. This WD Black 1TB is for a new PC gaming build, for file storage, applications, and OS image backup, etc. The boot drive is a Samsung SSD, which I also purchased from B&H, here. My experience has been, I find really good prices here for memory & storage, on brands like WD, and fast free shipping. Good – drive passed a 48hr stresstest with no errors. Stayed cool and quiet the entire stresstest. Registered it thru WD, it’s a retail kit, so it has 5 year warranty. Not so good – it’s never free. Reasonable, yes; free, no.

This was used to replace a failing HD that was used for data storage in a desktop. Installation was easy and the data load went smoothly. I’ve use WD Caviar Black hard drive for years without any problems. SSD’s are used for the O?S and programs and WD HHD’s for the data storage.

I use this drive, have now 4 of them. However, this latest purchase was problematic: Arrived DOA! Was not pleased! It was sent back. After some delay and back-ordering wait time, the unit received is purring fine, quiet and fast. So far when in service none of these drives gave me any problem! The customer service people are slow not very eager to please, but complete their job in their own slow time!

As a videographer I need a lot of storage to archive projects. I use these drives in swappable bays to off load finished projects. The price allows me to have many drives available for future use.
