Store and take your important information with you while on-the-go using the 2TB Elements Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from WD. With a capacity of 2TB, it can be used for additional storage or for backing up your videos, photos, music, documents, and other files. The Elements drive connects to your computer with a USB 3.0 port at speeds up to 5 Gb/s, is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 at speeds up to 480 Mb/s, and is formatted as NTFS so Windows 10, 8.1, and 7 systems will recognize it right out of the box. For Mac users, the drive can be formatted to work with Mac OS.
The Elements drive quickly backs up and retrieves files by utilizing USB 3.0 technology and draws power from a USB bus-powered port on your device, meaning that it requires no other additional external power source. The WD Elements drive is protected by a limited 2-year worldwide warranty and a micro-USB to USB Type-A cable is included.

When my older (2011) iMac started acting up, I needed something small and convenient to save the documents still left on my hard drive. The WD 2TB Elements portable USB 3.0 drive is the perfect solution and a handy little backup, especially at this price point. I transferred the docs from the old iMac to my new iMac (mid-2021) without any issues.

These are my favorite portable USB hard drives. Theyre simple and not bogged down with annoying software that cant be removed.

There is always room for a fast and trouble free smaller sized external hard drive. I have six of these and love them…the most useful size available for fast and effortless usage…in a practical size. Get one, and you’ll never look back.

This thing is great. Imagine 5T in a package size that I remember used to give you 500GB.

As the other two bad reviews, same thing happened to me. After a few months of light use it just broke and doesn’t work anymore. If you are going to store valuable data spend the few extra bucks and get a decent hard drive.

Initially didn’t work, but after a quick jostle of the input it has been working fine. Transfer speeds are fairly smooth. Happy with the purchase.

quite small dimensions, this thing is actually faster than i anticipated.

screaming deal on this HD, I have three, SSD is less fragile but more expensive WD makes a good product. I store a gazillion pics on this thing even 100-200 mg tiff files.

I have several WD external hard drives. Purchased this one for a backup. So far, so good and the price was right.

I’ve been using WD magnetic drives as backups for over a decade. Although I use Solid State Drives in my computers, magnetic drives are better for long term offline data storage. I tested the drive with both USB 3 and USB 2. The throughput is about the same which is to be expected for a spinning platter.
