Store and take your important information with you while on-the-go using the 2TB Elements Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from WD. With a capacity of 2TB, it can be used for additional storage or for backing up your videos, photos, music, documents, and other files. The Elements drive connects to your computer with a USB 3.0 port at speeds up to 5 Gb/s, is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 at speeds up to 480 Mb/s, and is formatted as NTFS so Windows 10, 8.1, and 7 systems will recognize it right out of the box. For Mac users, the drive can be formatted to work with Mac OS.
The Elements drive quickly backs up and retrieves files by utilizing USB 3.0 technology and draws power from a USB bus-powered port on your device, meaning that it requires no other additional external power source. The WD Elements drive is protected by a limited 2-year worldwide warranty and a micro-USB to USB Type-A cable is included.

I’ve had this baby for a few weeks now and I am pretty happy with it. I have another portable 2TB hard drive from WD and this one is so much smaller and lighter; I was really surprised given its capacity and speed. I also like the minimalist exterior. So hopefully it holds up as well as my other drives have over the years… so far so good with this one!

I’m using many external hard drives for back ups and I have purchased this one for backing up photos. So far, it works perfectly alright without any problem and I love it.

This is my third time buying this specific brand and size hard drive. It’s the perfect size for about a years worth of client galleries and is an excellent backup for my Mac time machine also. I’ve never had any issues with any of them and love how small they are, they fit perfectly on top of my mini while in use or in a drawer for safe keeping once full.

I have only had this WD Elements Portable drive for about a week & a half. But, so far it works fine. I simply took it out of the box and connected it to my USB port and the drive was recognized by my computer. I am using this WD external drive for file backups. Over the following 5 days I proceeded to download about 2.5 TB of data from two external LaCie drives. All downloads were flawless. I should point out that I am connecting this WD drive to an 11-year old WIN7 computer that only has USB1 ports. The WD drive is USB3 compatible and has a USB3 cable. This all works fine with my old USB1 ports on my old desktop computer. So, perfect backwards compatibility from USB3 to USB1. In summary, the WD drive does everything that I expected it to do. So, I am very satisfied with the product.

Over the years I’ve relied on 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and now 5TB WD Elements drives as my photo storage and backup needs have grown. While Seagate equivalents have failed me on several occasions, I’ve never been disappointed using Western Digital products. When they find a way to offer 8TB or 10TB portable drives, I’ll be one of the first in line to buy! I can highly recommend WD Elements and WD internal hard drives in any of their storage sizes.

I recently purchase a Tablo for Over the Air TV and the WD 2TB drives works great with it allowing me to record and playback local TV and view the shows on my Roku’s, phones and computers.

Good for storing data. If you shoot raw or ProRes you know storage is an issue. CAREFUL: make sure to store this HD properly and don’t hit it or you’ll lose your information. I got a protecting case from Ruggard just in case. For the price 5TB of storage is a must to backup your footage.

Just need for storage for videos and this is a great price for 5T of data

I bought this drive because of it’s huge volume (5TB) and the fact that it was only about $100. I recently bought a 4 TB SSD which is about twice as fast but cost about $400. This drive easily transfers at 80 MB/sec which is fast enough for me. I don’t edit videos directly from this drive, and you probably could, but it’s great as a backup drive. No external power cord – all powered via usb. In fact I bought two since they were so inexpensive. Very pleased.
