Store and take your important information with you while on-the-go using the 2TB Elements Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from WD. With a capacity of 2TB, it can be used for additional storage or for backing up your videos, photos, music, documents, and other files. The Elements drive connects to your computer with a USB 3.0 port at speeds up to 5 Gb/s, is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 at speeds up to 480 Mb/s, and is formatted as NTFS so Windows 10, 8.1, and 7 systems will recognize it right out of the box. For Mac users, the drive can be formatted to work with Mac OS.
The Elements drive quickly backs up and retrieves files by utilizing USB 3.0 technology and draws power from a USB bus-powered port on your device, meaning that it requires no other additional external power source. The WD Elements drive is protected by a limited 2-year worldwide warranty and a micro-USB to USB Type-A cable is included.

I go trough these types of drives like cornflakes. Buy a drive on every other order and have more than I can count. But I keep buying these again and again now as They just feel very well built and so far I have had no issues.

I love this HD… it’s small, it’s portable, it’s so convenient! Forget old bulky HDs with lots of cables. No charger cable. It mounts quickly. Love it!

I purchased two for. They arrived on time and worked as advertised. I transferred several Tb of files from my hard drive to one and then the other. This allowed for dual backup of my numerous images and freed up space for the next onslaught of photo images to my hard drive for processing. Takes a while to copy files (several hours) but the price is right.

I bought this external hard drive in order to back up my computer. It’s very light weight and small enough to fit into a purse or backpack pocket. 500GB is more than enough room for me and I can see myself not needing to buy another external hard drive for many years.

I know Always backup your data to 2 sources but I am on the road and this is a brand new drive. Famous last words I will get to it later. After 30 days of pics I disconnected drive and drove home. When I reconnected drive to same laptop ACCESS DENIED. After buying software that costs about the same as the drive I got back 75% of my pictures with file identification names composed of 10 digits. Bottom line after a week of pain of trying to organize and cleanup of files that were corrupted I learned my lesson backup twice.

Great size for travel to back up your internal hard drive. I have not had it long enough to say more than that. This is equipment you can only review after it is obsolete. Dehlonega

The WD 1TB worked very well. The only thing that didn’t work were the XCELLON ANTI-SLIP HRD DRIVE TRACTION PADS, B&H # XCASTP88.. So i couldn’t use the traction pads. Dave One of the pads when I peeled the protective paper off almost all the Self-Adhesive came off with it. The other pad only part of the Adhesive came off.

Ive come to rely on Western Digital over the years. This is a great drive for the price. It combines speed, light weight and capacity.

I try to be proactive and replace my external drives before there is a problem. I bought this one as a replacement. It was easy to set up-it just needs to be reformatted prior to using on a Mac.

I bought it to keep an extra copy of files in a physically different location from the computer. Peak transfer speeds are very fast for a 2.5 hard drive, but they dip way down for lots of small files. It’s nearly silent and almost no heat. 5TB is a lot of capacity for me. I don’t have much worth backing up. So, I keep multiple copies on the same drive in case of a bad sector. The cable is VERY short. Around 18. The connector that plugs into the drive is the funky USB 3.0 micro-B kludge. The cable should be a little longer and maybe update to USB C or a full size USB A connector on the drive side?

Only get this drive in this size if you have a back up. The wire jack on the drive feels shaky like a tooth! And once in a while the wire gets moved the wrong way and the drive stops communicating with the computer. Get WD either try the 4TB size elements or get any western digital passport.

I now have 4 of these hard drives and prefer the simple settings and sleek, black look.
