Store and take your important information with you while on-the-go using the 2TB Elements Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from WD. With a capacity of 2TB, it can be used for additional storage or for backing up your videos, photos, music, documents, and other files. The Elements drive connects to your computer with a USB 3.0 port at speeds up to 5 Gb/s, is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 at speeds up to 480 Mb/s, and is formatted as NTFS so Windows 10, 8.1, and 7 systems will recognize it right out of the box. For Mac users, the drive can be formatted to work with Mac OS.
The Elements drive quickly backs up and retrieves files by utilizing USB 3.0 technology and draws power from a USB bus-powered port on your device, meaning that it requires no other additional external power source. The WD Elements drive is protected by a limited 2-year worldwide warranty and a micro-USB to USB Type-A cable is included.

While I am just using it as an external drive for extra space; making the backup software superfluous to me, others might find using it for a periodic a backup to be most useful. Formatted for Windows, transfer speeds with my computer system I bought specific for my photography is great. 85Gig of data transfering in a few minutes instead of hours is a time saver.

I bought mine on sale and it arrived on time but it doesn’t have the 2tb as advertised but 1.81tb instead. This is not a deal breaker for me but could be for others. 4/5, pretty solid

The first one I ordered was defective; the second one I ordered is working okay but makes some odd clicking sounds. Hoping it lasts for a long time!

… the installation, that is. A month ago I had a single 2TB external drive for storage; now I have two, connected through a hub. Even allowing for the necessary time to configure this new external drive for Mac, the setup was simple as can be.

These items were purchased as a Christmas gift so I don’t yet have a personal review. From past experience with Western Digital hard drives I am confident this drive will be as dependable.

Great external HD. Really nice to only need power from USB 2.0 and it has a nice compact size.

2tb with a small footprint provides lots of room for backing up files.

This is the third hard drive I bought to backup a former WD hard drive to. The others were useless as only about half of my files would transfer to them. This one transffered seemlessly and quickly.

USB powered, compact. Doing its job.

I bought this for my friend’s daughter to keep her wedding pictures and video backed-up onto. There’s plenty of room for her other files too! Can’t really beat the price nor the portability. They’re really happy with this.

I use this as a backup to a multiyear collection of photos. It is working great at this time. I do not keep it plugged in all the time. I copy data then unplug. It is great for the objective I have bought it for.
