Store and take your important information with you while on-the-go using the 2TB Elements Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from WD. With a capacity of 2TB, it can be used for additional storage or for backing up your videos, photos, music, documents, and other files. The Elements drive connects to your computer with a USB 3.0 port at speeds up to 5 Gb/s, is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 at speeds up to 480 Mb/s, and is formatted as NTFS so Windows 10, 8.1, and 7 systems will recognize it right out of the box. For Mac users, the drive can be formatted to work with Mac OS.
The Elements drive quickly backs up and retrieves files by utilizing USB 3.0 technology and draws power from a USB bus-powered port on your device, meaning that it requires no other additional external power source. The WD Elements drive is protected by a limited 2-year worldwide warranty and a micro-USB to USB Type-A cable is included.

I purchased two WD 1TB Elements Portable External Drives from B & H. They were recommended by my PC guy so I would have one for ongoing use and another for periodic backup. The drives are easy to use, sturdy, & compact. B & H website was secure & organized. Ordering online was easy. The drives arrived promptly in protective wrap. Thank You, B & H Foto & Electronics

I have used WD for years with no problems – this is the smallest sleekest case I have had with one.

I use this to off load videos from the hard drive on my computer that I want to retain. It’s perfect because you just plug it in the USB port and it’s ready.

So compact it can fit easily anywhere. For the price it’s a very good deal, the only downside is that sometimes it takes a while for my Macbook to detect it. Have been using it for 4 months now and so far no issues. Would purchase again in the future!

I generally like WD portal HDs, and this was easy to start using. 6 mos in, started having connection problems, seems a fatal error, can’t fix with disk repair. Will be submitting for warranty replacement. Will try to update this review pending outcome…

I use this product for backing up files and it is quick and easy to use. Just plug it in and you’re ready to go. Physical and memory size are great, it’s small and compact and you can store a lot on it, and it is, in fact, quiet; you hardly know it’s there. I have had no problems with it so far. Great product.

Believe it or not, I still have good experiences with WD hard drives, after 10 years my 2TB WD My Book Studio II still working also and an internal 1TB WD Black still running on my 2009 Mac Pro since day one. We have bought more of 6 of these WD Element drives for delivery RAW material to our clients, to move big files between remotely located computers and none of these drives has given us problems, I don’t know if it’s the best option to keep data for a long time but it works for what we’re using it. Wish they were more rubberized than just plastic.

I bought this to duplicate my 1TB Elements drive, and it works just as you’d expect a hard drive to work: plug it in, and you can immediately start putting files on it! I have no complaints other then the fact that it doesn’t use micro-USB or USB-C. Would definitely purchase again!

I purchased this external hard drive so i could back up my 2012 MacBook Pro with time machine. I was able to format the drive for the time machine and had absolutely no issues doing it. I was also able to partition it so it can also be used as a regular drive so i can store photos and videos. Out of the box, the device was flawless and powered up immediately when i plugged it in with USB. No power adapter necessary. When it’s running when its recording or reading, its silent and there are no vibrations or rattling noises. Considering the 4TB storage capacity and the fact it’s not SSD, this is quite a small device. I’ve been using Western Digital for over a decade and have never had any issues. In my opinion, they are the best devices and i would recommend them to anyone. They are the best bang for the buck!
