Store and take your important information with you while on-the-go using the 2TB Elements Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from WD. With a capacity of 2TB, it can be used for additional storage or for backing up your videos, photos, music, documents, and other files. The Elements drive connects to your computer with a USB 3.0 port at speeds up to 5 Gb/s, is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 at speeds up to 480 Mb/s, and is formatted as NTFS so Windows 10, 8.1, and 7 systems will recognize it right out of the box. For Mac users, the drive can be formatted to work with Mac OS.
The Elements drive quickly backs up and retrieves files by utilizing USB 3.0 technology and draws power from a USB bus-powered port on your device, meaning that it requires no other additional external power source. The WD Elements drive is protected by a limited 2-year worldwide warranty and a micro-USB to USB Type-A cable is included.

I got this as a backup for my SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable SSD V2. I clone that drive using SuperDuper and that’s it.

What can I say but simply you need one of the WD external hard drives. We are using ours to back a few thing off of several users desktops and share between them. Works as easy as a thumb drive.

This is the second WD drive I’ve purchased for external drive photo storage . They are light, and easy to handle and their use frees up space on my computer. Simple and they work!

All seems fine so far. I had to reformat the drive right out of the box, as it was formatted NTFS, which Macs can read but not write to. So I reformatted to ExFat and it worked fine. As for longevity, time will tell.

I just got this and it seemed to work fine, however it included no instructions and I needed to call WD to find out how to operate it.

I have had 4 of the 2TB version of this drive and had no problems. This is the second 4 TB version, and I am having issues with very slow read/write on some files. I wonder if this is because this size corroupts more easily.

I divided this into two partitions, the regular exFAT and encrypted one to use both interchangeably under Win10 and Linux. NTFS has some nusty quirks you know. exFAT is what you need to make it working everywhere.

I was expecting this drive to be slow, and to get hot after transferring one TB. It was faster than I expected and didn’t get very hot. Basically just warm to the touch. I just bought a second one.
