Store and take your important information with you while on-the-go using the 2TB Elements Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from WD. With a capacity of 2TB, it can be used for additional storage or for backing up your videos, photos, music, documents, and other files. The Elements drive connects to your computer with a USB 3.0 port at speeds up to 5 Gb/s, is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 at speeds up to 480 Mb/s, and is formatted as NTFS so Windows 10, 8.1, and 7 systems will recognize it right out of the box. For Mac users, the drive can be formatted to work with Mac OS.
The Elements drive quickly backs up and retrieves files by utilizing USB 3.0 technology and draws power from a USB bus-powered port on your device, meaning that it requires no other additional external power source. The WD Elements drive is protected by a limited 2-year worldwide warranty and a micro-USB to USB Type-A cable is included.

Recently I have had some recent failures with expensive SSD storage. As a result I have been supplementing my SSD backup storage with inexpensive hard drives. This card drive more than fits the requirements. This drive is small, lightweight and a good travel companion. I am using this connected to a Mac Studio computer and the copy speed has turned out to be faster than I anticipated for lowly USB 3. Highly recommended.

Use 3 of these for TimeMachine backups. Haven’t had any problems yet (3 is anticipating a problem at some point in time but have successfully reformatted and reused drives that had a write error). Use 2 sets of these on different macs.

This is a real great hard drive. 3TB’s in such a compact case that is quite durable as well. Easy to connect. Needs no power cord. Can fit in your shirt pocket, or any place you could sit a deck of cards. Great for carrying when your on a trip, and need some storage space that is compact and light.

I purchased this drive to replace several USB thumb drives previously used for off site data storage (one had failed taking the data with it). I already own another drive of the exact make and model for backup of my Windows PC. It is small, fast and reliable. For Windows, it works straight out of the box with space for folders and files. No additional software is included for RAID, auto backup, or encryption. I purchased a USB 3.0 extender, as the supplied data/power cable is too short to reach the USB 3.0 jacks on the rear panel of my aging PC tower. My biggest disappointment lies not with the unit, but with the careless way that B&H packed the shipment. The drive and another small item were rattling in an oversized box. Only two sealed air packs were in the box, and had burst, providing no protection. Fortunately, FedEx must have been gentle, plus excellent product packaging by WD, as the drive appears undamaged and fully functional. The experience is out of character with the impeccable service I received from B&H as a loyal customer of many years.

This item is awsome. Comes Windows Formatted, so it works right out of the box. The only way would be better than this HUGE windows jump drive would be campatable 100% with a Mac.
