Store and take your important information with you while on-the-go using the 2TB Elements Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from WD. With a capacity of 2TB, it can be used for additional storage or for backing up your videos, photos, music, documents, and other files. The Elements drive connects to your computer with a USB 3.0 port at speeds up to 5 Gb/s, is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 at speeds up to 480 Mb/s, and is formatted as NTFS so Windows 10, 8.1, and 7 systems will recognize it right out of the box. For Mac users, the drive can be formatted to work with Mac OS.
The Elements drive quickly backs up and retrieves files by utilizing USB 3.0 technology and draws power from a USB bus-powered port on your device, meaning that it requires no other additional external power source. The WD Elements drive is protected by a limited 2-year worldwide warranty and a micro-USB to USB Type-A cable is included.

I use this product as a backup media and its been really great so far. Its small, portable, neat shape and does require a separate cord to power the device! As backup for so many gigabits of data, the fire wire would have been better because its is faster

Performs well and is reliable. Bought 2 drives. I tether to a laptop, and photo sessions are backed up from the laptop to one drive using GoodSync. Then that drive is backed up to the second drive. A comforting configuration and I can focus on the shoot without worry.

If your intent is to use the WD backup software, buy the MyPassport instead. The WD backup software will not work with this external drive. What this is good for is storing all those thousands of files that would cause grief if lost. There are software packages that will back up your files, or just use the operating system to move the files to this disk.

I really like my WD Elements Portable. It holds a massive number of files and is very easy to operate. I would highly recommend it to anyone. The only thing I regret now is that I didn’t get one with 3 terabytes of storage space. I got the one with 2 terabytes. I feel it was a worthwhile purchase on my part.

I bought this hard drive to back music and movies up. Although it only has a USB, it works perfectly fine. It’s really portable, light and small and it also has a great design! I think it’s a perfect hard drive if you need something affordable, portable and reliable…maybe not that good if a quick speed transfer is needed since it has only USB connection and not FireWire!

This is the first external hard drive that i have purchased and i love it! I take a lot of photos which take up too much space on my computer, i have moved all of my photos onto this hard drive. Its fast, roomy and very small.
