I bought this unit to replace my older My Book Duo because of the recent security breach news regarding it, and also because I wanted something faster than my My Book Duo. This unit has an updated and nicer interface and is definitely faster. I bought the 8TB model and use the drives in RAID1 (mirrored) for about 4TB of usable storage. My old My Book Duo used to get me 30MB/s write and about 65MB/sec read speeds, and this unit gets me a little over 100MB/s read and write speeds. It’s quite a bit faster, so I’m glad about that.

Easy setup. Works great. Quick install for Plex server.

No complaints relative to hardware but the software is not dependable at all in my experience. I have given up on using the software and now use my normal backup software. The WD software frequently states the network link is down and/or loss of power at port 1 but Novastornever has a problem. No other failures on the network other than the WD software.

I originally purchased a Buffalo Drive and attempted to call tech support for particular set up information. There was no U.S. phone support–Drive Returned. Went back to my tried and proven WD, called them got the info I needed and the drive runs exactly as it should

I use it as a multimedia center. I will work with Plex, but only to a web browser based viewer. It does not have enough oomph to do any transcoding. But if you researched a little that is made clear. I am using Infuse to view my video library on Apple TV and it works flawlessly with Plex, and/or Twonky server. For viewing my OTA TV stations I use the HDHomerun tuner and Channels DVR Server on this device, again it works flawlessly.

Good fast NAS. PITA to setup with windows for accessibility by the family. Created NAS static IP with Verizon router Used static IP to mount drives in windows explorer

This NAS is just awesome! I got it to replace an old failing NAS that was slow and unreliable. This one is fast, reliable, and easy to setup. The user interface is very user friendly and I love the app that allows me to access my files from my smart phone. I highly recommend this NAS!!

If you need to share data with others or access your data while away, the My Cloud EX2 Ultra will get the job done. Additionally, I use the My Cloud EX2 to backup my data to ensure I always have a current backup of my critical data. The EX2 Ultra is easy to set up as well as easy to use.

This is a great product. The set up was mostly easy. I found that the instruction manual was not exactly accurate though. I needed to search online to find a few key pieces of info to set it up on my PC. The app on my iPhone was also pretty easy to set up, but again the instructions were not accurate. Overall though, not being an IT whiz, I was able to do this on my own for both a PC and Mac in about an hour or less.

I wanted something that I could use for backing up and storing files with redundancy (RAID 1 cofig). I also have a PC and a Mac so I wanted something I could access with either computer. This is a nice storage server. It was very easy setting it up with one exception– on the Windows 10 PC in order to access a user specific share folder I created, I needed to add the log in information to the credential manager. I am not an IT savvy person so without going through help forums online I would have never figured this out. In additon, there’s no mention of it in the user manual. No issues on the MacBook Pro. That aside, the set up is easy and it works great. I have not yet had occasion to try to access it remotely or through a mobile device, but I plan to set that up eventually. I would recommend it.

Setup wasn’t bad. I like that it gives me options by having two internal drives, plus allows me to connect additional drives via usb.

Great piece of product that was very easy to setup. Flawless workflow and backups. Using it mostly for my photography work and the same for my wife. It’s never too much backups:)

The piano black colour is lovely. The web interface only works half the time, but is new and flashy so that is supposed to make me feel good. I like that it still powers down to save power and extends drive life. The box is pretty. That is about it.

Much faster than the Live Duo I had (which was expected). Took a long time to index the 3TB of data – BUT ITS 3TB OF DATA! (Again, to be expected. ) My ISP (St**L***) puts me behind a double NAT, so no way for direct IP connect back to home without “cloud” ability. I’m happy to report I can once again access my files from anywhere right out of the box!

I initially tried to replace my old My Cloud NAS system with a My Cloud Home device, thinking “same name, newer capabilities.” Was I ever wrong! THIS is the device that should be considered as the upgrade for the older My Cloud systems. I am exceptionally pleased with this upgraded device. Don’t need the RAID-1 capability, but I’ll take it anyway, as this NAS is infinitely superior to the My Cloud Home devices. My only complaint about this product is that the iTunes server does not support Home Sharing.

Got the items in less than 2 weeks even though it is listed as out of stock. Price is very reasonable and item as advertised. Very easy to use. Value for money

It was not a transparent purchasing process. The product reached my hands almost a week after the indicated date. I had to pay an amount of more than a third of the value of the product in customs. Although the product works great, finally buying this way does not seem convenient for those of us who live outside the United States.

The overall product is great, I’ve used WD for years and am very happy with the quality. However, I only gave 4 stars because the drag and drop action from a Windows computer does not identify duplicate file names in OS5. Instead, the MyCould automatically adds a _1 to the end of the file name of the newly added file with the same name as one that already existed on the drive. In OS3, a message would ask if you wanted to skip or overwrite the existing file. In OS5 that doesn’t happen. So the user is forced to delete the existing file from the drive before uploading one with the same name in order to keep the files organized and not create duplicates with varying names on the drive. Hopefully this is fixed in a future release.
