I was very proud of it’s performance. It worked right out of the box.

Will not allow backup to be performed via time machine. Have not backed up in months because it says the drive is full.

This may be the most frustrating computing product I have ever purchased. I have now spent some part of everyday since purchase (Dec 2019) trying to trouble shoot this. There is no effective Helpdesk. If you really want to hate yourself by this product or you can do your self a favor and just throw the money out the window. At least with the later you won’t have the frustration of owning this pile of dung.

Works well, but should have multi-factor authentication. I had no problem setting up the drive under Windows 10.

Having purchased WD products in the past, I did not find the initial setup difficult. However, the process to enable PC backups need additional information. For example. the WD Smartware is very slow and not that easy to use. In addition, it does not do incremental backups so it overwrites the last backup. If you have Windows 7 Professional, you can use the Windows backup, but if you have the a letter version, you will have to use Smartware or another backup program. The user interface it very easy to use and provides all of the information that is required to manage the device. Overall, it is well worth the money,.

My 3tb WD MyBook Live Duo was at it’s last MBs of storage and was becoming painfully slow so I had to replace it with a new NAS. I did a huge amount of research and decided this was the most bang for the buck. I use it as a 6tb (Raid 1) drive. It’s much faster than my old WD NAS. I don’t use the personal cloud feature/backup because I have unlimited Amazon storage so I can’t comment on the functionality of that aspect. The drive came configured as Raid1 which was exactly what we needed. I’m not really a fan of WEB based access but the features of this are very thorough. There are more than enough settings to share and configure the drive. The internal fan is quiet and powerful but as an added precaution we added an additional fan above it to keep it extra cool. Quiet, fast, affordable. Worth your $$

This is an ideal replacement for aging Apple Time Capsules. Not only is it simple to install, but provides “mirrored” professional backup. This 12TB machine consists of two 6TB WD Red hard drives, providing top quality performance at this price point. Highly recommended!

The lack of support for the newer Apple operating systems, is a real show stopper. It seems WD has shown no real effort in addressing this problem.

The product is unreliable. Support is not good. Backup is sketchy when the backup is scheduled and of moderate size. Plex does not work.

I bought this to replace a WD Cloud Mirror, which is not supported anymore. The disappointment was that some of the apps available for the WD Cloud Mirror (OS 3) are not available for Cloud EX2 (OS5). The app I needed is Git , I am using currently the WD Cloud Mirror as a Git repository. I returned the Cloud EX2 after using it for about 2 hours.

While the product is excellent it it just not suitable to my needs. to move 300GB from one drive to it took 25 hours! If you’re a small family this might be the perfect server but for photo and media use by the serious enthusiast – nope.

What’s not to love about this NAS? It’s easy to get it up and running, and from there you can easily have it perform more complicated tasks. I’d say it’s the perfect NAS for an old geezer like me (80+) who needs a lot of storage.
