Excellent External hard drive.

This product works great so far. Right out of the box just plug it in and start transferring data. Nothing to install which is the best part. Only thing bad is i paid for 2TB and get only 1.89TB of actual space. I would still recommend this product to anyone that needs a lot of storage space.

I use this for photo & file backup. It works fine and setup is easy. The only issue I have with it is that I can’t disconnect it safely using Windows 7. I didn’t have this problem with my prior WD Elements 2TB backup drive.

As soon as I formatted this for mac, the icon disappeared and Error message came up and could not fix it. I had to return and got a replacement. The second one got formatted and is working now. But I am a bit concern about the quality!

I am using this product to back-up another external drive on a desktop computer. The back-up houses my entire life (photos, videos, etc.). This drive works as advertised. It has a small footprint and looks nice on the desk. The USB 3 makes it so fast at moving data.

Everything I anticipated. No additional software, just glug and go. Cheap storage for those machines of yesteryear (5 years) built prior to the large internal capcities available now.

What to complain? I had the same drive for 3years and no bad sectors! Best drive to shuck!
Delmer Bode (verified owner) –
No complaints. The HDD works fine. I don’t like that it does not have a side-mount.

Huge drive space. Plug & play USB. Works as intended. What more can you ask from an external HD? Longevity is the only question still in play and we will see how that goes. I have tried all brands of externals, Seagate, WD, etc..depending on level of use they all seem to fail at some point. For the price, certainly worth the purchase.

Purchased as a backup drive. Has been working great so far with daily incremental backups & periodic full backups. Hoping for a long uneventful life of use.
Dean Borer (verified owner) –
Does everything it’s supposed to at a great price. I wish it had an off switch and a less-bulky power brick, but overall this is a strong value.
Micheal Kulas (verified owner) –
So far so good. Storing home movies and pics on it. Nice to have them all on one drive
Rosanna Johnston (verified owner) –
good

… the drive is perfect. … The device works great!

Backup for desktop. Does fine job. I found freeware to manage backups but something just as good should be included in the package.
Jarrod Cremin (verified owner) –
I use this drive in an array for backups. For that, it’s perfect. I’m a big fan of WD after years of using this drive, and bought with confidence.

I’m using this device as an offsite backup for my 8 TB off photo images. Its an ideal back for the images on my desktop and my Synology file server. Once a month i will retrieve the device from its offsite location. Update and return the drive to its offsite location. The cost of the drive breaks even with cloud storage (which it tried) in about 6 months but the process will take a little more effort.

I use this as a Time Machine backup and, having had WD drives before with no problems, made the decision to go for this one. The price for a 2TB drive was irresisitable, I’ll admit. So far, it’s served me well, but it’s early in the game to pass too much judgement. I’ll say one thing, though: it’s slow to wind up to speed. And that’s my only complaint, really. Would I recommend getting it? Sure.

Quick and easy reformat for Mac and easy setup for Time Machine backups. Reliably backs up my data on schedule. If it lasts as long as my old Seagate, I’ll be very happy.

These are great drives for archiving projects and raw files. Their capacity to price point ratio make them great for storing all that raw footage you shot in 6k.
