Preformatted NTFS for systems running Windows 10, 8.1, or 7, the 14TB Elements Desktop USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from WD provides users with up to 14TB of add-on storage for their photos, videos, music, documents, and other files. It features a 5 Gb/s micro-USB 3.0 interface, which is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1, and is compatible with 480 Mb/s USB 2.0. It is powered using an 100-240 VAC power adapter, is formatted NTFS for Windows, and includes a USB cable.

As the subject reads, does exactly what it is supposed to do. Isn’t very fast, but it isn’t meant to be being a 5400rpm usb2.0 drive. I copied 1tb to it immediately after plug-play and it took around 10ish hours without any dropouts. Has its own power source which is very important to me. Great price. Very quiet. Cons: no power switch (known before purchase), and enclosure doesn’t have any ventilation. Recommended.

I’ve owned one for a year or so, it’s the perfect drive for storing digital video and playing it through a PS3, or similar device. I rememeber getting it for about $100 on sale at @ because it’s a no-frills drive. Comes 100% empty with none of that pesky SmartWare or other nonsense. But what I don’t get.. lists for $ here, add to card it goes to $… in the print catalog, it’s listed for $… which is a steal. Why all the price differences?

Wife got a new PC and I wanted to have a big backup so we can set & forget. I don’t mind the 3.5 drive when I don’t need portability. This drive comes with the USB 3 cable and a small plugin power supply. Running WD Acronis software package (free download from WD). A great combo. And the excellent selection and quick delivery from B&H. Payboo is awesome.

I was so confused in buying a backup drive. I was getting seagate 2TB at $75 but this one was $. I read lot of reviews on Seagate and didn’t want to take risk of losing data for $25. I can tell you that I made the right decision. This drive is always ON. Anytime I click on it, it just opens in a flash. No noise till date. Works out of the box, no need of any software unless you intend to use it as a backup drive. I’m currently using it as external harddrive and happy with its performance.

This is great backup storage! – Im using it with a Mac Pro, which meant that I had to format it for Mac OS. That did take a fair amount of time, one and a half day I think I remember, but I kept using my computer as usual while this was taking place, so it didnt matter much. The drive is compact, heavy and stands on nice rubber feet, very confidence inspiring! Comes with USB cable for USB 2.0 and 3.0 – I havent had a chance to experience USB 3.0 yet, so I dont know how fast that would be. The one thing I worried a little about before buying it, was noise…as it turns out, there is no noise, it is amazingly quiet. – So this is a very nice drive that I would enthusiastically recommend to anyone.
