Granted this is only a USB 2.0 device, so it a bit slower on transfers. However, I knew going in this wasn’t going to be a performance device. It has performed well for my needs out of the box. I am an avid Linux user, so I am using an Ext4 file system and not the commonly used NTFS used in windows. Out of the box plugged it in and used it to store images of a few older drives, had no issues other than the USB2.0 speed.

This is not so much a review about the product itself, as it is B&H. It’s an external hard drive. You know what you’re getting with Western digital. It’s a lot of storage space at a good price. I’ve bought microphones, recording equipment and this hard drive from B&H over the past few years, and the reason is because B&H has better prices than the competition. Don’t just shop at places like @ and @. Shop the market. B&H often offers the same items for less, and with tip top service and shipping.

This large drive is being used as one of my picture backups. Since I have more than 50,000 pictures, in the raw format, it takes a large space. This unit set up right out of the box , was up and running in about 10 minutes. It works fine and very cool and quiet. I would get another, if I ever need one. Nothing I don,t like about it.

I am using this drive to back up a server in a private school. I used the exact same one to run Quota file shares on for 150+ students. Have had absolutely NO problems with it at all!

The hard drive is great… resonably fast…plenty fast for a external back-up fot my photos. It just so bisare that it auto-powers when I turn the computer on…. I had to add a external swith to controle it..

Bought in March 2021, did not use until the return window passed. On the first use, it failed catastrophycally within hours. 30+ years of professional experience in computer hardware here, I know how a dead HD looks like.

Ive been using WD Drives for a very long time, I decided to try this one and use it for backing up large files. At this price you can buy an extra, just in case your backup fails. Someone told me years ago that if your file does not exist in Three places, then your file does not exist! Not a bad way to think about your files if you asked me?

I needed more space for storing large digital image files. The price was reasonable. It seems to work exactly as it should and was easy to format and connect to my iMac.

I ordered two of these. I only got one.

WD makes a nice hard drive and the B&H price was unbelievable!

I am a photographer and use this drive to back up my photos. I feel that it is an excellent way to keep my photos safe.

I needed an external storage for my photographs as my HD was filling up quickly. I received the product, plugged it in and was easily detected by my PC (Windows XP). In less than a minute I was backing up my data. My only concern is that the power supply would be hard to replace when it starts to fail. The whole unit is enclosed w/o screws and it would also be hard if not impossible to take out the HD in case the power supply decides to go.

I use it as an external drive connected to Apple Airport Extreme for Time Machine backups. I had to initially connect it to my MacBook Pro through USB to reformat it for Mac. Also split it in two halves, one is for Time Machine and the other for everything else. Once that was done, I connected it to Airport, and it works just fine since. The value for money is very good, and I like WD brand.

I am a digital editor and I use external hard drives all the time. This product is great and it has a great price.

Worked fine out of the box with Windows. The drive inside mine was SATA 3.5 white label WD80EDAZ-11TA3A0. No 3.3v modification required to run it as an internal SATA drive. Other drives may be different. It was detected fine in Linux after plugging it into a Linux NAS. I purchased mine on sale for $124.99 before tax.

I have only been using this drive for about a week, and thus far I have found that the WD hard disk drive performs flawlessly as a backup drive to my Synology NAS.

I simply plugged it in, attached it to my PC and it was ready to go. I was able to copy 1.5T to it surprisingly quickly.
