This is a speedy hard drive wtih a usb 3.1 interface and user friendly software. Backing up files and using as a network share is pretty simple out of the box

A very nice device with large capacity. The light on the opposite side is slightly annoying, but nothing too important. This is my third Western Digital, and all three have been working great for me.

I purchased a pair of these drives to replace a pair of LaCie Rugged mini 4TB drives purchased about six months ago. The LaCies worked fine as duplicate working drives at first, but within the past couple months increasingly became prone to becoming corrupted–certain folders, not the entire drive contents, and different folders on each drive, even though contents of the two drives was identical. Ive used AC-powered LaCie drives in the past with no problems, and in fact I still have a pair of those in use, performing as expected. The LaCie mini drives lack their own dedicated power connection. I have no idea whether that makes a difference in the performance issues I experienced, but those experiences made me leery of further investment in LaCie. The WDs are AC-powered, and thus far (knock on wood) are performing as expected. If their early performance continues, my rating will be elevated to five stars.

I use it to store video while I work with it, so its important that the usb port is fast. What I liked about it was the capacity, the size, the casing and the price was more than reasonable. Great hard drive.

This is a good unit for backup storage. I use multiple units of different brands to be safe.

Review of WD Elements 4TB USB3. Good backup drive. Large. Quiet. Fast. No disk errors. One problem I had not anticipated: It powers on when you power on the PC or when you attach the USB cable. I use it as an intermittent backup HD and want it powered off most of the time. So I have to switch it off after each boot – hence 4 stars.

protect photos and videos This is a good HD capacity

Slower to load and work on than past Western Digital drives I’ve used- I’m not sure why that is

I have this 2tb drive attached to my WD multimedia player. It works beautifully. Great thing about it is it is fast (no stuttering when playing video) and it turns on on off via the usb port (I don’t have to get up to turn it on or off).
