Product was as advertised … The price was the best I could find. I will buy from B&H again in the future…great place to shop!

Everything seems fine. Had to reformat to FAT32 to accomplish the MAC/PC file transfers I want to make.

Forget about uploading to clouds that may or may not fully protect your pictures, videos, music, etc. – and impose restrictions on what you can or cannot upload. The WD 3TB external hard drive is the solution to your storage needs. Very simple setup – take it out the box, connect USB cable to unit and then a computer, plug in power supply and connect the power cable to the unit. That’s it – any Windows or Mac computer should recognize the unit and your in business. Just remember several procedures: (1) Unless you are using it continuously, unplug the power suppy when not in use (2) If you operate this unit continously in a warm enviroment (80 deg F. or higher), direct the airflow from an external fan onto the unit to keep it cool (3) If you drop it (especially when it is on), you got yourself an expensive paperweight!

I am a huge fan of the WD desktop and MyBook external drives.

This is my 4th purchase of a WD USB drive since 2011. I’ve never had an issue with any drive and have used them daily for backup. Highly recommended.

Great price for 16TB but it’s very noisy and slow to wake.

Not the fastest drive, but for the price it’s a great bargain. No problems so far with any aspect of the drive. The design is nice and simple as well.

So far so good, arrived as promised, easy to connect I have a mac and not being too tech savvy was a little concerned that I would have problems reformatting. Not to worry it was so easy instructions from there web site walked me through it, very easy. Have Time machine back up working and a lot of space to store files.

Heat is a major factor in hard drive longevity. Both WD and Seagate offer an assortment of USB hard drives in passively ventilated plastic boxes that do a poor job of keeping the drives cool. The big win for WD is that their plastic box is much better ventilated. There is a 1/4 in. gap between the top of the drive and the lid of the case and its vent holes are relatively large and numerous compared to Seagate’s case which has very little space on either side of the drive. Nevertheless, all these plastic boxed drives run substantially hotter than when installed in actively ventilated enclosures or well designed thermally conductive ones like the superb but expensive G-Technology G-DRIVE boxes. I like to sit these WD drives on top of an AC Infinity MULTIFAN S3, Quiet 120mm USB Fan.

The product is good. But it arrived very late from purchase date (reason: out of stock). its just a month and so far its good. The cables are longer compared to some other external drives.

Nice inexpensive drive for backup, archival and media storage.

I have purchased almost a dozen of these and never lost a drive module yet. A solid choice from B&H Photo.

Great price for so much drive space. I have six of these drives and use them to store all my DVD & Blue Ray films, no need to to burn films to disc ever again!

I’ve had this for a month now and used it to backup two other drives. Works great and easy to set up.

It is Western Digital, so that means reliability. It is 8T, so that means lots and lots of space. Plug and play (PC), but I noticed MAC files inside. The only question is which files to backup to this beast of an external HD that doesnt take up much physical space at all.
