It looks pretty much durable. But the actual capacity is the only 7TB. I’m not sure if it’s the normal case.

I use these Western Digital hard drives as back-ups for digital photographs. They have been reliable and inexpensive to use.

I had already purchased one for myself some time ago. Now, when my youngest daughter purchased a superior digital camera, I chose to buy a second for her to use in storing her hundreds of photos. She was as surprised and hrilled as I had been to discover how quick and quietly the hard drive works. Great price – great service – great hard drive!

Comprei para dar de presente. Foi escolhido este por causa da grande capacidade e relativo baixo custo.

I like the simple and compact design. It is stackable with other WD Element external hard drives. The only thing that I don’t like is the white LED indicator locating on the rear and being too bright.

I’ve bought three 2 TB Western Digital Elements drives over the past year or so, and they’ve all performed flawlessly. My favorite feature is their quietness — they have no fans, and they’re inaudible from just a few feet away, making them splendid additions to the Mac mini I use as a set-top media center. (The only other external hard disk I’ve found that’s as quiet as the WD Elements drives is a La Cie Poulton black brick, but it proved to be unreliable, as did one of my other La Cie drives, so I avoid that brand now.) They also have no status lights on the front, so they’re less likely to be distracting if you’re watching a movie from one. My only major complaint is that WD Elements drives have an internal setting which causes them to spin down automatically if they’re idle for a while, regardless of the power management setting of the host OS, and Western Digital offers no way for Mac users to change that setting. (Windows users can change it if they download special software from WD.) I’m also a little worried about the drives overheating, since their enclosures are plastic and have no air vents. And, yes, a power switch would be nice.

I have to store tons of full size images for my photography business in large jpegs and in tiff files. This drive was easy to set up. However, even though I used a USB 3 connection it took 13 hours to transfer my first backup of 6 TB. That seems a little slow to me but acceptable considering how many files needed to be transfered. However what I did not like about the drive is that it is rated at 12 TB and the actual space on the drive before my transfer was 10.85 TB. I understand that WD has to install operating software for the drive, but I think 1.15 TB for operating software is a bit extreme. Therefore, 4 stars instead of 5.

I am a church planter and I at this stage of the game I am storing everything possible to use for future resource. The 2Tb is actually smaller than I thought it would be. The setup was step by step and really easy on my MacBook. Thank you for making my life easier and it honestly arrived exactly the day I needed it (earlier than expected). Great product! Great Company

Working well as other similar WD Elements devices have. Capacity is just right.

Now dead within 2 months. Blinking light of doom. The fan runs for about 30 seconds, then stops. Buyer Beware.

Seems ok so far, but it is a little slow

I ordered this external drive to backup several thousands of pictures and videos. It has worked exceptional in every which way. Not one problem. Ill always trust Western Digital.

Storage makes me happy and relax. But little noisy.

We shoot roughly 30 weddings a year and around 15,000 photos or more per wedding. We also use a DSLR that has full HD video which can take up a ton of space. This 2.5TB hard drive gets the job done with ease and no fuss. We have about 10 of them now and just purchased another. It’s fairly small and light weight. Very quiet with barely any noise. Easy to store.

Excellent storage option, but unlike the other external drives (including the WD easystore) you can not turn off the sleep function on the drives themselves so they are truly best for backup use.

This thing is great. You can use it for personal as well for business purposes. In one word – HUGE 🙂
