Not much to say but this a reasonably priced 8tb drive. Haven’t had issues with it yet besides some mounting issues, but that might’ve been more my computer’s fault, not sure.

This is an awesome drive at this price. Fast, quiet and ready to go. Plugged it in and windows automatically recognized it. Thank you B&H Photo! 🙂

Easy to setup. It is fast over USB 3.0. I am using it as my main drive for photos. If you need backup software from WD it will cost extra. So far the drive has been great, especially given the price at B&H. It is fairly large so I wouldn’t plan on travelling with it.

It’s not the fastest drive but works for the price.

It is really nice hard disc the only one thing i dont know is why it has a on/off button if it doesnt work. at least mine doesnt do anything. but its really fast.

Perfect for backups / storage. Would not recommend editing 4K video off of, but works if need be. I use it as a backup for a backup and it has been working great!

Storing RAW Photographs, and videos/ It’s a great price for 3TB, and it works great! No power button.

I was running out of room on my internal 1 TB hard drive due to the amount of videos I record. This 14 TB external hard drive works great for my purposes.

A value-priced no-frills large capacity external drive that reliably backs up your data. Just plug it in, and it’s ready to go. Pre-formatted NTFS, so runs smoothly on my Windows 7 PC. Energy Star rated to save electricity. Not particularly speedy; works best when you schedule it to automatically run during off-hours.

The hardware quality of this drive seems to be excellent, but connectivity is problematic (for some users). The instructions that come with the device are of little value. Support at WD is below ridiculous. The software that comes on the drive is a bad joke and I would recommend it not be installed/used. The power button is useless without the resource hogging DEMO software (apparently), but I did read that the MyBook versions will power down via the button if pressed for 5 seconds. I have yet to test this on this drive, so take it for what it might be worth. As with all USB storage devices, be sure to render the drive safe for powerdown/disconnect via the System Tray before doing so. I would, however, recommend this drive despite the issues, if you choose to do the necessary research before installing/using.

This is my third WD Elements drive. The first two are 1.5TB and now the third is the 2TB model. I have had no problems with any of them. I’ve used them with Win XP and Win 7 operating systems. They are sleek, very quiet (I can’t hear them above my system’s noise and it’s a pretty quiet system) and I like the LED on the back that indicates when the drive is reading or writing that some HD’s are now lacking. My guess is my next drive would be a WD elements again. I do hope WD adds an eSATA connection to them in the future.

Unpacked it, hooked it up and it just works with my Mac. Just what you want from an ext HD.

I had been looking for a 2TB external HDD for awhile. I bought one in SUPER GIANT MEGA-STORE, but it was the ESSENTIALS version. I took it home and formatted it FAT32.(so that i could play videos on my xbox360 with it. Xbox360 will not play video from an NTFS formatted drive.) When it finished formatting i lost about half of my space. My computer read it as 0.8TB(it should have roughly been 1.8/1.9TB.) And for some reason the xbox360 wouldn’t recognize the drive. I don’t know why. So i took it back to the store and ordered this one online.(via B&H) … When I plugged it in I quickly formatted it FAT32, it worked perfectly. Not a single problem at all. It sits atop my xbox360 for hours a day, and it runs quiet and most importantly cool. I recommend this WD 2TB ELEMENTS HDD to anyone who has lots of video they’d like to play via their xbox360. Personally, that makes it totally worth it.I have owned a WD 500GB HDD for two+ years and the only thing I’ve had to replace is the USB cable. That’s saying a lot since i take it everywhere with me. So far my new WD 2TB ELEMENTS HDD has been nothing but perfect.Thank you B&H!
