I bought this to replace my WD 1TB external HDD. The old drive was reliable and still working well after 5+ years, but I simply needed one with more memory space. It took just minutes to unpack and connect the new drive.

I’ve bought a smaller elements drive and had it fail on me recently after 2 years of use. Just keep that in mind, and keep a backup. Otherwise, enjoy the good price.

This disk is huge, and while I am primarily using it for backing my data up from several computers, it also has enough spare space to store other random data bits. The product feels very sturdy. I wish it had a power on/off button, but that’s not a big minus since I just unplug it when not in use. It does require external power.

Very compact, easy to setup and use, lots of storage, and most of all, NO PROBLEMS OF ANY KIND! I have been the owner of about 6 WD External HArd Drives and not one has given me any issue.

I bought one, then I bought another one. 2TB, small package, quiet, solid-feeling, and it works.

I just started using it. It seems O.K.

So far so good. Using as safety backup of RAW photos.

I bought this Hard Drive to use on my WD TV Live. Installation was as easy as plugging in the USB and transferring whatever files I wanted on it. Lots of space, no problems or issues with the Hard Drive and my WDTV Live plays all the media smoothyly. I Highly Recommend this drive if you are looking to upgrade to a nice 2 TB to go with your WDTV. Ronald

I’m a full time working pro, and have over 20 of these, various sizes and ages, all have been 100 percent reliable for the past couple of decades, I use nothing else

I have a HUGE collection of movies and TV shows that spanned two 8 terabyte drives. This meant that I had to do two searched to see if I had a particular movie. This drive was my solution. There was an unexpected benefit. This drive is much much faster making my searches almost instantaneous. I wish I had bought it earlier!

This is a great drive (so far), but when I got it, it showed as a Read Only drive. I’m using the drive on a Mac, and tried to change the permissions, but was not able to. After discussing the problem with an IT guy at work, I had to buy a program called NTFS for mac ($20) that allowed the drive to be able to be written to. Now that I’ve solved that problem, I am happy.

simple to use, stash those videos

There’s a lot of competition in this market segment but, as a Mac user, I’ve always found WD products to be the most dependable. This simple Elements drive offers convenient external storage space at a very attractive price per Terabyte. The sleek case and slim profile looks good and fits anywhere. I’m using this drive for Time Machine backups and it’s perfect!

I do all my work on an older laptop with limited storage. I shoot all my shots in RAW and process them with light room. I had an older external hard drive that I used as back up but it was getting full. I purchased This 4TB drive to give me room to grow. The drive is very nice and was easy to set up. It really was just plug and play. I also have taken advantage of the smart drive software that came with the drive. The drive operates much more quietly than my old drive. It is faster as well. I like the included software and will purchase the licenses after the trial. The only drawback I had was the software… and it is not a weakness in the product but it pointed out the limitations of my old laptop. The software has an option for continuous backup, but I had to disable that and use a scheduled backup process. My old system could not handle light room and this back up approach. I would recommend it to anyone.

too slow for connection and then too slow for transfers. wished I saved the money and just setup a storage disk array instead. this drive is more of a doorstop at this point.

I have purchased several WD external hard drives in the past. None have ever given me trouble. This new one works great and very fast. I love it.

You can never have your photos backed up enough. I have three External Hard Drives. This item is 2 of them. The third is a 2TB WD drive. This way, I should not ever lose everything. I keep only program information on my computer. The photos go to an external hard drive. The other two backup the entire computer and the external hard drive. Hopefully, nothing will ever exceed the capacity and ability of my protection.
