It’s reliable and cheap. I have 3 WD Elements Desktop Hard Drives. The earliest one is bought in 2007. It’s still working.

This is another one of severalwe have and have never been let down by this product and of course by B&H. Gppd products, cusomer service and price.

great product …

The drive works great for backup. The only thing I didn’t like was that I had to buy the backup software. It came free on a WD Passport drive that I had purchased previously. Now you need to spend $ extra for the software.

It is an overall good product for the price I saw some 3.0 USB hard drives that are better than this and faster down and up times then the 2.0 USB but B&H did a good job on the shipping and handeling got here pretty quick considering I’m cross country.

I bought two of these to use as redundant backup for my pictures which are growing in size and numbers. These drives provide a lot of space at a reasonable price. The only downside is they are pretty slow. I copied 1 TB of data to them the first day or about 55,000 pictures and it took 8.5 hours at about 30 MB per second. The only issue I had with them was the computer only recognized one drive when both are connected so I have to disconnect one and connect the other one to write to both of them.

Easy to use and well compatible with my system

use this product to back up two laptops and store large files. used 1 TB version previously, and it was reliable and efficient. the new one works as advertised — easy setup, plug and play, quiet and efficient.

Great buy,…

Quick to set up, easy, no frills. Just 8tb of storage
Cayla Schowalter (verified owner) –
The adm. approval keeps asking for permission to run on the computer. I’ll have to figure out how to stop it.
Ignacio Harvey (verified owner) –
So far so good. The drive was easy to connect to the computer. It has been working flawless ever since.

I use this as a backup connected to my router, quiet and I trust western digital. Some of my old western digital drives are still working.
Ole Kautzer (verified owner) –
The drive was easy to setup and start using. The drive works great. The only drawback is there is only 9 TB of useable space instead of the 10 TB. Some internal programing takes up almost a whole TB. So if you will need at least 10 TB free you will need to buy a 12 TB HD. The unusable space is why I gave it 4 Stars instead of 5.

Purchased this WD 4 Tb drive to serve as backup for 3 other volumes. Plugged it in, reformatted for Mac, partitioned without a hitch. Reasonably small footprint making it almost invisible. Liking it so far. B&H has great service and prices. I always look here when shopping for my electronics.

It worked, taking several days to dupliate my 800+ Gigabyte bird photo archive, using Retrospect software. I have had no problems yet, but I wouldn’t expect any after only a couple of weeks, unless it was a terrible product. It is very basic, with only a power socket and USB port. If it remains trouble free for the 2 year extended warranty, then I would be truly able to rate it.

Assuming this is a reliable product going forward, I think I’ll be quite happy. Read/write speeds seem quite slow but might take some configuring

This hard drive does what it is intended for. I use it to back up all my photos. I liked it so much and it was fairly inexpensive that I purchased a second one as an additional back up drive….
