If you’re looking for plain and simple storage – and lots of it – without all the bells and whistles that come with preloaded backup or any other misc. items suppliers want you to experience then this is the hard drive for you.

I don’t know why I waited so long to buy this. It is so nice to have all the extra space.

Just formated the drive and it was ready to go. Affordable storage

Perhaps this review is a little premature being that I’ve only had the unit three weeks. All the same, it’s as simple as plug & play. This is my secord WD External. The other is a 1T I’ve had about three years & still using. Hopefully this one will be just as reliable.

I use external Hard Drive since 2007 and I have la 5, all of them are WD Elements, Fast, safe and easy to use.

Love this drive, no fuss, I did have to reformat it for Mac. Works great as a backup drive.
Clinton Bechtelar (verified owner) –
There is so much space and the transfer rate is pretty good for USB 2.0

Plug it in, power it on and you now have a ton of additional storage. Route your backups to this huge drive and if you ever needed to evacuate or get out fast, just take this drive. No configuration needed. Just plugged it in and I was up and running. Very impressive!

Use as a back-up drive, works perfectly!

Using drive to serve files on my home server. Works great. Quiet and runs cool. Drive shuts off automatically when not in use and starts up fairly quickly when called for. Not clogged up with pre-loaded apps or other software. Good drive for backups and file shares. Good value and reliable in my experience, I have two others, not the best choice for speed, but great storage option for the price

I am using this as a backup drive for my internal Seagate 14TB Barracuda Pro. I had no issues initializing the drive or backing up the first 4GB of data. I have had many drives in this WD range and they have been consistently reliable.

I purchased this 2TB hard drive after my little 300 gig Maxtor would not spin up one day. Like most people I use an external hard drive to house my music collection. This was only a few dollars more than another 300 gig drive so I decided to go with this model. So far so good.

No fuss on a Windows PC, excellent hard drive!

This drive is good bang for your buck. Plug and play, good price to storage ratio. I did a full format then ran diagnostics and started filling it up. I’ve had it for almost 3 months now and haven’t had any problems. I took off one star because it could be a little faster, and there is some lag waiting for it to spin up when you access it. Overall I am pleased and feel I got good value for my money. I would and may buy another in the future.

These drives perform exactly as expected. Already have one, purchased this one and plan to buy more as needed. I price shop. B&H Photo Video beat everyone else, plus free shipping on both drives recently purchased. My best reviews are usually 4-stars. This is an exceptional drive and supplier.

I like to keep at least 2 mirrors of all my drives. This was inexpensive and gets the job done.
Alize Johns (verified owner) –
Worked great right out of the box and is cheaper than my old 2 TB drive that it replaced.
Nakia Emard (verified owner) –
WD great products i was looking for a 18TB or close to it not 16.3 TB but i know that has to do with software
