next to the desktop tower and keeping personal data safer, this little dynamo is welcome to its tiny footprint in my space.

Seems to be a quality hard drive for storage of large amount of data. I use mine for everything from photos to music.

Unfortunately, this one was defective from the beginning. My Windows 7 PC did not recognize it at all. No drives. However, I realize that no matter who the manufacture is, there will always be at least one bad one in the bunch.

Downloaded everything on my computer, and had ample space left for future files. I had hundredes of pictures. It was so easy to set up on my Mac.I am so impressed. The shipping was very fast. I would definately buy from you again!! Thanks,Sarah

These drives are pretty good for the price. WD has a good name and is reliable. The drive is fast and works well with Windows 10. One downside is that earlier versions of windows require a driver be installed to manage the drive better. The worst part of this drive is the housing. It doesn’t hold up very well if the drive is moved around much. Overall, it’s great.

So far, so good. Seems to work fine. I don’t have experience with any other external backup unit so can’t comment in detail. I do like the software that comes with the drive. It makes backing up easy. I’ll see what happens at the end of the 30 trial for the pro version. Might have to fork over the $$$$ to continue on.

I purchased this for use to back-up my new Mac Pro laptop. On receipt I formatted it for the Mac and was off and running. It operates great with Time Machine on the Mac and I am very pleased with it’s operation.

I purchased this drive to backup my WD My Book Live Duo NAS. I plugged it into the USB port on the back of the My Book. The Elements drive has a USB 3.0 port but it was backwards compatible with the USB 2.0 port on the My Book. It took a couple of tries to get it going but the 3rd time was the charm and my NAS is all backed up now. It took about 45 hours to backup 775GB. It has been successfully updating the backup every morning for the past week in about 5 minutes. This drive is not listed on the WD website as being compatible with the My Book Live Duo, which I did not know when I bought it, but it worked for me.The backup software on the drive did not run when I tried but the My Book has its own SafePoint backup system so I did not need the software included with the Elements drive.

I store all my music on it and plan to download high resolution music too. Lots of room for everything. This is my second 2TB WD and it is the back up to my first.

i have been a long time user of WD drives. I like using these for backup storage. Not as a drive i intend to access on a daily basis. I feel safe using these drives for long term storage.

Cheaper than anywhere else. I’ve only had it for a few weeks but so far so good. backed up my old ide drives to this and have gone full sata.

I bought this hard drive to store student audio files and videos. The drive mounted on plug-in, was easy to reformat and configure (Mac), and has been reliable thus far. It took a reasonable amount of time to copy large amounts of data, and I still have room to spare. I have no complaints and recommend this hard drive.

I am using the device primarily for archiving purposes though tried to run disk-intensive application as well. In both cases, the unit acted perfectly, quite and reliable. Thinking of buying the second one and creating mirrored RAID for even higher reliability.

A solid brick of remember whatever. Super-quiet, compatible with every computer I’ve plugged it into, and I think it just might last longer than my next three computers.

Looked everywhere and You will not find a better product with a better price. BH you rock!

First it came formated for windows and I use a Mac. Not a big deal to reformat. However, when transferring files it suddenly crashed. My computer does not recognise the drive now. The plug is so flimsy that I drop it down into the socket. I can’t image it staying in a wall outlet. I thought I would give this a chance but I am not impressed. I would never buy this again

This was purchased for occasional backup duties of digital photos. I shoot RAW, so lots of storage space is used up. No power switch, it will power down if not accessed, so first time accessing may take a bit as it powers itself up again. Not the fastest drive out there for backup, but for occasional backup its adequate, and the price is good considering its capacity. Only had it a short time, so not sure about durability.
