I use this with a Macbook Pro 2010. I formatted it with disk utility, to Mac OSX journaled. I have other ext hard drives formatted to FAT32 so I can transfer files between windows machines and macs. This hard drive, for 3 TB is the best deal out there, at $ including shipping. It has USB 2 connectivity. It is still working after one week too! This hard drive is best for periodic backups. It has no on off switch, so if you need to use it often I think you might best buy a more expensive one with a switch, lately I have been unplugging and plugging the power as a switch, which is not convenient if you think you might want to do that often. I am not sure if leaving it on all the time will wear it out faster, but I always fear hard drive crashes so I turn them off when I don’t need them. Turing them off also keeps prying eyes out.

Love it. Easy for immediate use. Very good price for an 8tb external hd.

Huge HD, great price. The shipping was fast and B&H was super easy to work with. The only big downside for me was that I didn’t know that the HD has to be plugged in to work. This is my fault for not reading carefully enough but be aware, this is not very portable.

Use it to empty my main drive on my computer, This is my 3rd one of the same size and it is very compact. I wish it had a power button.

Arrived in great packing, as is the norm with B+H. Drive is your basic large capacity external hard drive. No frills. No extra ports. Just storage. Simple transfers. It is a 5400rpm drive, not 7200rpm, so just be aware of that speed difference. However, for the price point, on sale, is pretty economical. Quiet drive. This is the largest drive I own now and I am still nervous about potential failure and loss of that much data. However, photo files are not getting any smaller or less numerous, so an accommodation needed to be made. So, far, very pleased. (word to wise: create DOUBLE backup for important data/photos/video)

About as compact as a housing can get for a 3.5inch drive, but seems to run cool. Simple, does the job, no issues.

I use this 2TB Western Digital hard drive for backing up my laptop. It is compact, easy to use, easy to carry in my briefcase if I need to, and just an all around great value. I love it!

I have been uploading all my hd video contents to this hard drive for a week. So far I am very happy with 2TB Elements.

I bought this in June of this year.. finally needed to use it, and its blinking and grinding and won’t boot up. B&H orders section says it’s no longer returnable. What a waste of $. So upset!!!

I like the WD drives mainly because they are so quiet, but I suppose the better thought is that one has never failed for me. Very nice speed when using USB 3.0, and an excellent value. No formatting required for Windows which allowed me to put it right to use by plugging it in.

It works well.

copied a 101GB file, write speed can get up to 180-200MiB/s (10TB elements)

Very easy to work with. 2TB is more than enough for me at the moment.

Quick install, fast and small. Great product!

After many hours of auto installing all records were backed up. What is lacking is a set of directions or at least to let you know that it takes hours to do the initial install. Looks to be a good product and has met my needs.

Purchase two of these at $200, wish I would have bought two more. Great and reliable for backing up photos. I have many WD hard drives, both portables and Elements. Easy to use and lucky to not have had any problems so far.
