It is so easy to use. You just plug in and start to save all the data you need to.

I have used this product to backup data, images, and video. Easy to use right out of the box and very quiet. I have not discovered any cons at this point.

Great at what it does. Fast for a hard drive, too!

I use the drive mostly to store digital photos as well as back-up of files. It came ready to use, and almost installed itself. It makes no sound, and sits unobtrusive on the desk. The only con I’d have is that it has no on/off switch, though those don’t always last forever, so that’s not a big gripe.

bought it for a good price and product is small, compact, and exceeded my expectations.

What can I say? It works, if it came DOA I would be angry. If it made spaghetti I would be amazed, but angered as well. Only 4 stars because quantum theory states that anything is possible so it might kill me in my sleep.

I just bought the WD 4TB drive and its up and running after I reformatted for Mac usage. I separated it into 2 partitions for Time Machine and its Performing fine with little to no noise, barely notice its there, which is the point! I hope that I can say the same thing this time next year, and the year after. Someone mentioned it doesn’t turn off, but it does. Simply dismount tyhe srive and hold down the power button until the light goes off.

Works well

Yes, it has no frills; it has no bells and whistles, but it does work dependably and quietly and will archive my precious images and I can rely on it to start up over and over and over. It is not the fastest drive in the world but my archive is now sitting as a redundant back up on it. No other drive is as inexpensive that I trust. It is small and can be stacked.

I needed to clear up the hard drives on three of my computers, and so a lot of space was needed. After shopping around, I found this 2 tb external drive. I plugged it in, and started moving files right away! The case is small and so doesn’t take up much valuable desk space. It’s very quiet, too. I ended up buying one for each of my two daughters as well.

put it on my ubuntu server as external drive to store media – works perfect so far. Good use – additional memory for your server or backup drive

Seriously, especially for $175, it’s a steal. 5400rpm may sound worse on paper compared to 7200rpm s, but in real life use I don’t notice anything.

I purchased 3 of the WD 14TB Elements Drives and ran the WD Extended Diagnostics test which takes more than 48 hours each. But, Win10 did an update before it was done then turned off the computer. So I unplugged the LAN cable to prevent Win10 from doing it again. All 3 drives passed. These drives are the same size and noise level as the 12TB and 10TB Elements drives. These drives are going to backup Synology Servers in which the WD Diagnostics Test Software won’t run- it needs Windows. So now I feel better knowing the drives will likely work– no surprises.

This was a great value for all the space. It is not slow by any means, however I have used faster one in the past. I back up everything on here and it does the trick.Size is OK, still portable, but it’s obviously not a travel model as it needs the power plug. Keeping mine on my desk, this is no issue for me but if I do need to take it with me somewhere, it is still compact enough to pack.

Just plug it into the USB and AC power and its ready to go. No additional software that is not needed. Does the job for storage and backup. I have only had it a few weeks but happy so far.

Perfect except transfer rate is a bit slow. Nice price for such a great storage. Lack of power switch is not a problem as it stops running when idle for some time.
Logan Lowe (verified owner) –
The best brand at the best price. I use it for storage.

They changed the design. You can no longer remove the drive and use it internally.

These are usually fine hard drives. The one I bought couldn’t work because the USB cable would not not fit into the damaged USB port on the drive. I was disappointed, of course, but stuff like this occasionally happens. What was very impressive though, was how smoothly the return process was. The fine fellow I spoke with on the phone had the RMA and prepaid UPS label in my email inbox before we got off the phone. It was an excellent experience. Thanks.

Very easy to set up and use for a back up drive. Hoping it continues to work well.
