Perfect for Backup

I bought two of these when they went on sale. They showed up as plug and play drives on my late 2009 i5 27 iMac right away, and the actual usable space is listed as 2.27GB. I have had them for about one week with rather little use, but no problems. The one big con in my humble opinion is that they have no off switch. They quietly idle when not in use.

I’m a photographer will a BUNCH of data (called pictures) over 3 large internal hard drives. I’m able to put everything on this one drive and store it in a safe place away from home to further protects my work. It is fast, affordable, and easy to use.

Not so fast as a SSD but great capacity and performance.

How can you go wrong with 12T storage. I hope that this will last me a couple years till I fill it up.

The Elements Desktop Hard Drive was easy to connect and my computer recognized it right away. Even though it’s USB 2.0, it’s fast and great for storage of photos. …

I have it hooked up to my router and am using it as storage for a media server. Works like a charm.

These came promptly and do work but I have yet to get them set up for backup the way I want them.

Always buy these and love the 18TB version. Covid really stinks though making these more expensive than they’re worth, but so goes life, right?

I have owned 8 WD external drives ranging from the first WD portable 120GB drive to 1TB My Books and element externals. I use these drives for entertainment and document storage. Of all the WD drives I have owned some for 5+ years only one has failed the 120GB external which was not even hard drive failure but the SATA to USB interface. I added to my collection and have been using a 2TB Elements drive for about 4 months now and a so far pleased that it has been to my previous WD experiences. The only think that I wish WD would do is produce a cord that has an extension similar to laptop power options or wall warts that have a slimmer profile, (when you own 6 desktop externals plugging space is limited with the current design).

It failed on day 2 of use. All the data stored in this drive can’t be deleted before sending it back for warranty replacement. Still working with WD to see if I can scrap it before sending back to WD so my personal info won’t be compromised. This is my first WD Elements of my more than 20 drives in my fleet. I had no any issues with WD drives until I had this one.

A nice, no-frills desktop hard drive. I bought three of them for my Macintosh Time Machine array, for the sake of hardware redundancy. The feature set is perfect for the price…. Highly recommended for a quality, commodity solution.

This external come out of the box ready to use immediately. It has taken a total of around 2TB of data for me already and has been working for around .5 months without any issues. It’s fast and stable. On a non-technical note, one of the best things about this drive is it’s size and shape. It is just about the smallest powered external hard drive i’ve ever seen and because of it’s normal rectangular shape, it fits perfectly on a bookshelf i use for my externals. So long as it’s still good at kicking after 1.5 to 2 years, I will keep my 5-star rating for sure. If my other WD externals are any indication, i’m fairly confident it won’t disappoint.

HDD scan results are good. It took more than 26 hours to see if a load occurred during the scan. The product is 7,200 rpm, so when used in nas, temperature management should be thoroughly carried out. Intermittently, unusual sounds occur, and it bothers me.

Best buy for hard drives when factoring in size and cost. Works great. Very easy to use and set up

Good for non portable storage. Back up to a back up sourse

I’ve come to the conclusion after getting this external drive. From here on in, when I buy a PC or notebook, the hard drive only has to be about 250GB max! Because I’ll keep all of my important stuff on an external drive that can go from system to system. No more transferring!

I use this 4TB hard drive to backup and work off of and it is quite reliable. It’s small, compact, and for someone in school doing video work it holds enough for what I’m working on now. So far I haven’t noticed anything wrong with it, but since it has to be connected to power it takes up an extra plug.

fast and quick service. this hard drive will be use as a back up system for both my laptop & desktop computer. the 3TB has more space than i will need for all my file. the prices was much lower for this unit that i could anywhere with a brand name of high quality
